Transportation Routing Specialist – CPS (Chicago)

Who: Chicago Public Schools

What: This position applies basic knowledge of supply chain operations and logistics principles to assist with delivering day-to-day transportation services to CPS students city-wide. Duties include basic to medium complexity data analysis to develop and implement route changes, drawing autonomous conclusions to propose recommendations for new policies and procedures, managing small to medium size vendors to ensure quality and safety of transportation services for CPS students, including students with special needs and / or disabilities. MPO Senior Planner - Transportation (Santa Fe)

Who: The City of Santa Fe – Land Use Department

What: MPO Planner to develop and manage projects related to regional transportation, demographic trends, and MPO contracts. Essential functions include:
 • Performs and manages major professional and technical transportation planning projects utilizing advanced techniques in gathering, analyzing and presenting of data; develops project budgets; administers bidding process; verifies contract(s) expenditures and compliance.

Associate Transit Planner (Boise)

Who: Valley Regional Transit (VRT) is the regional public transportation authority for Ada and Canyon counties in southwest Idaho. Its main responsibilities are to coordinate transit services in the two-county area and develop and implement a regional public transportation system.VRT owns the public bus system that provides service in Boise/Garden City, and contracts with a private firm to manage its operations. In addition, VRT contracts for transit services in Nampa/Caldwell and between Ada and Canyon Counties.

What: The Associate Planner is responsible for reviewing and analyzing performance data for fixed -route and other mobility public transportation services and making service recommendations that will further long-term public transportation goals. CMAP Executive - Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Programming

Who: Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning

What: CMAP seeks a Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Programming to manage a large department and provide strategic direction for CMAP’s policy development and analysis activities, with an emphasis on performance-based programming for the region’s transportation investments. Data Analyst - MAPSCorps (Chicago)

Who: MAPSCorps (Meaningful-Active-Productive Science in Service to Communities), a nonprofit organization that provides urban youth with meaningful employment and STEM training opportunities through an innovative technology-based community asset mapping program. MAPSCorps partners with NowPow, a healthcare technology company that consumes the MAPSCorps data to connect community residents to the vital information needed to stay well and live long. NowPow, a for-profit social enterprise, and MAPSCorps, a 501c3, together make up a self-sustaining collective social impact business. MAPSCorps and NowPow catalyze communities by building the workforce of the future and improving the health and vitality of people, businesses, and organizations.

What: The Data Analyst reports to the Executive Director. The Analyst works closely with the Program Manager and is responsible for data processing, reports, and data visualization. During the data collection (mapping) period, the Analyst will supervise seasonal Data Coordinators to ensure efficient data processing and high-quality data. The Data Analyst also manages the MAPSCorps data requests process and mines the MAPSCorps datasets to provide reports and data visualizations to management and partners. The Analyst will work with the Program Manager on outreach efforts to grow data partners and users. The Analysts will also work closely with the MAPSCorps’ engineer to maintain and optimize annually the database, data collection tools, and website. What: The Narrative Impact Analyst will provide strategic support to the organization’s efforts to amplify and innovatively measure the impact of the varied racial justice narrative programs of both Race Forward and allied/client organizations. As a member of the organization’s Impact Planning and Evaluation Core Team, the analyst will work under the supervision of the Vice President of Research and alongside staff from Research, Development, and the Narrative and Communications Program (which oversees the daily racial justice news site Colorlines). They will contribute to and build upon organizational content analysis practice and other impact evaluation methods for narrative change campaigns and journalism.

Project Coordinator - Port Authority of NY & NJ (Jersey City, NJ)

Who: Port Authority of NY & NJ - Technology Transition Team

What: The Project Coordinator will play a significant leadership role in the rollout of a series of new technology solutions for the 1,600+ member Port Authority Police Department. Building on the recent successful transition of the department onto a modernized, electronic crime and incident-reporting system, the coordinator will advance implementation of electronic motor vehicle accident reporting and citation writing. This work will involve project management, stakeholder coordination, and strategic communication tasks done in an office environment, as well as occasional field visits and observations conducted on-site at police commands in the NY and NJ area. This work will be overseen by the Security Technology group, under the Office of the Chief Security Officer. This is a full-time, one-year contract opportunity with the possibility to extend.

Program Director - Energy Action Network (Montpelier, VT)

Who: The Energy Action Network (EAN) is a multi-stakeholder, collective impact network of leaders across a diversity of sectors - business, government, non-profit, utility, higher education, and finance – seeking to transform Vermont’s energy system to achieve the state goal of meeting 90% of total energy needs through efficiency and renewables by 2050.

What: EAN’s Program Director fills a central leadership role in the Network as we work together to transform Vermont’s energy system to one based on efficiency and renewables. The Program Director works closely with the Executive Director (ED), other staff, and Network members to provide strategic leadership, analytical underpinning, and backbone support to the Network. EAN’s work facilitates large-scale change by fostering collaboration among diverse groups in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. As such, the role of Program Director requires the ability to work with and across multiple interests and members to foster learning, collaboration, and innovation that advances our collective mission. It requires continually tracking progress toward goals, coordinating the efforts of organizational leaders with busy schedules, and an understanding of the energy needs, policies, and technologies that are driving change in Vermont and elsewhere. Strategic Advisor - Transportation Equity Program, SDOT (Seattle) (Closes 1/28/18)

What: The Seattle Department of Transportation is hiring a Strategic Advisor 1 for a full-time, 2-yr term-limited assignment to support the overall implementation of the Transportation Equity Program. The overarching goal of the Program is to create, deliver, and scale income-eligible mobility options within disproportionately cost-burdened communities living and accessing the City of Seattle. This position will develop and implement qualitative and quantitative data analysis and collection methodologies to inform and scale income-eligible programs, policies, and services in communities. Additionally, this position will develop and track Program performance indicators, pitch and implement income-eligible pilots, support the expansion of several existing programs (i.e. Ambassador Program, Income-eligible Car Share, ORCA LIFT Low-income Access to Transit, Youth ORCA, Car Tab Rebate), and work directly with the Transportation Equity Program Manager to create and deliver innovative, culturally relevant, and context-sensitive programming with diverse community partners and stakeholders. The position will require excellent communications skills, the ability to assess and analyze data, programs, and policies, maintain existing and forge new relationships with community stakeholders, human service providers, mobility service providers, advocacy organizations, community-based organizations, and will represent the Department on a variety of internal and external coalitions and committees.

Planner I (Buffalo Grove)

What: Planner I. This is a highly responsible technical position. Successful candidates for consideration will demonstrate a solid foundation in planning principles and practices, particularly in the area of current planning (rezoning, subdivision, planned developments, signage and special use permit review). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Researches, compiles and analyzes a variety of land use, socioeconomic, demographic, housing and other data for the preparation of reports and presentation graphics for planning projects.
• Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the Village's comprehensive plan, economic development strategic plan and participates in the development review process and drafting of ordinances for specific projects.
• Reviews site plans and building permit plans for compliance with applicable zoning, subdivisions, landscaping, and other development codes.
• Provides staff support to committees and commissions as assigned. Metropolitan Transit Planner (Rockford)

Who: Region 1 Planning Council (R1PC), which is comprised of the Rockford Metropolitan Agency for Planning and the Economic Development District of Northern Illinois. 

What: The Metropolitan Transit Planner position works with the Metropolitan Planning Organization (RMAP/MPO) division of the R1PC and the Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) to administer the federally required public transit planning process. This position also produces planning documents and engages in planning processes typical of a metropolitan planning organization and mass transit district. The successful candidate will investigate, analyze, document and manage ongoing public transit and associated economic development planning efforts. Work for this position will involve close coordination with the MPO transportation planning function of the R1PC as well as the operational planning elements of the local mass transit district. This position will be engaged in the long- range as well as short-range planning functions of the MPO and RMTD. What: The position of Research Analyst is responsible for assisting senior researchers in successfully executing defined research tasks in the policy areas most directly related to the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center, such as housing and housing-related assistance programs, homelessness, demographic and population studies, urban planning and land use, community economic development, city governance and public-sector capacity, physical and environmental quality, and housing and neighborhoods as a platform for other household and societal outcomes.  Responsibilities include:

Planning Technician (Kansas City, MO)

What: Senior Planning Technician specializes in technical and administrative work of advanced and technical dimensions consisting of a wide range and variety of archival and records management projects. Assists with the inventory, preparation for microfilming, conservation, and storage of architectural and engineering drawings. Sorts, processes, cross checks project information on capital projects with established cataloging procedures. Enters information into the database. Properly repairs drawings and photos when necessary according to accepted archival procedures. Prepares documents for microfilming by checking the information on the drawings, putting them in correct order, and creating informational sheets. Places documents into storage according to established procedure. Retrieves drawings from storage. Learns about the relationship of the documents to the projects and types of medium involved. Learns about history of the Department and City of Kansas City, taking into account various aspects of the 125 year old department and the significance of its workings in shaping the City. Performs other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications: high school graduation and 5 years of responsible experience in the various phases and techniques of planning illustration, including cartography and map work; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education.

Coordinating Planner - Chicago Dept. of Transportation (Jan.19 Deadline)

What: IPHI is seeking an energetic and well‐organized team member to provide high-level planning, administration and operations support for a national grant-making and community support program. IPHI operates Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH) which identifies barriers, opportunities, promising practices and indicators of progress for multi-sector collaborations that connect information systems and share data for community health improvement. This position supports our national work at the nexus of health data, community collaboration and the social determinants of health, including support to cutting-edge communities across the country. Duties and responsibilities include program management and administration, communications and networking support, grants management and community support, and meetings and events management. 


Qualifications: Demonstrated experience and credentials in public health, public policy, healthcare, community services, or a related field. Minimum of one year of work experience in project or grants management, events management, health informatics, budget and financial reporting, health data and information systems, or program performance and evaluation. Candidates can write well, work fast, and succeed independently and in teams. We are especially interested in candidates who have experience working with diverse populations in a variety of community settings. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree and experience with project management, communications, or administration and events management.

Graduate Management Assistant (Fort Collins, CO)

Who: City Manager's Office - Fort Collins, CO 

What: The 2018-2019 Graduate Management Assistant will be involved in research, analytical work, and managing special projects. This position represents a one-year internship. Responsibilities include: 
• Assist in the management of the City’s Service Area Request system, which involves frequent direct correspondence between elected officials, City staff, and citizens of Fort Collins.  
• Assist the City Manager’s Office in researching high-level issues of concern as they arise.  
• Performs entry level program analysis, organizational and administrative field studies, and statistical analysis of research data.  
• Reports findings of research or study to the City Manager or other executive staff and elected officials in writing and in person.  
• Participate in development and implementation of City’s Performance Excellence Program.  
• Act as a liaison between the City and the community at City events.  
• Attends weekly City Council and Executive Leadership Team meetings.  
• Attend meetings on behalf of or in conjunction with executive managers.  
• Plan and coordinate various meetings.  
• Attend skill and knowledge development events and/or conferences.  
• Participate in the City budget process by serving on the Budget Lead Team  
• Review, update and implement department operations policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.  


Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a field related to Public or Business Administration, Political Science, Social Sciences or closely related field. Applicants must have completed or substantially completed coursework toward a Master of Public Administration or closely related degree by June 2018.  

Benefits: $40,000 per year.
