Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Network Career Fair

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Supervision & Regulation department is currently seeking interested applicants for an Associate/Assistant Compliance Examiner position. We are hosting a networking career fair event on Tuesday, September 13th from 5:30 - 7:30pm. This event will allow attendees to meet with various leaders in the Compliance/CRA division, examiners and additional Supervision & Regulation staff. There will be an opportunity to network and learn more about the Compliance division and Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago as an employer.

We were particularly interested in sharing this event with the Urban & Public Affairs program to allow graduating students or alumni to gain insight into consumer compliance roles. Program Assistant, Green For All

Position Title: Program Assistant

Full-time, permanent position located in our Oakland, California headquarters.

Green For All’s innovative Clean Energy Works Portland (CEWP) pilot program is demonstrating the promise of the green economy. CEWP employed over 350 people and built the capacity of over 65 businesses in its first year. Half of the work and 20% of the contract dollars went to workers or businesses from communities of color or low income communites.


Green For All has also toured with artists like Wiz Kalifa, the Black Eyed Peas, and Drake to engage and educate youth about the promise of a green economy. Over one hundred Green For All Fellows are working in their local communities across the country to transform our economy from the ground up.


We are looking for an experienced candidate for the Program Assitant position who will enjoy the insight that the position provides into Green For All’s organizational model, and who will become an invaluable member of a high functioning team doing transformative work.


Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and compentent Program Assistant to support our State and Local Initiatives Senior Strategist and Team. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage a wide range of administrative, programmatic, and executive support related tasks while working independently with little or no supervision.


This person must be flexible, proactive, and detail-oriented. The ability to interact with all levels of staff and external partners in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism is crucial to this role. The Program Assistant must be a strong writer and a skilled communicator. This position is ideal for someone with excellent references that demonstrate experience managing (administrately or strategically) an organization or executive.


Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide general programmatic and administrative support to the State and Local Initiatives (SLI) team.

• Provide personal administrative support to the Chief Strategist for State and Local Initiatives (and to the Director of State and Local Initiatives as needed).

Manage administrative processes associated with the State and Local Initiatives department including, scheduling and preparing for team meetings, tracking project deadlines and deliverables (experience with Salesforce/PULSE helpful), coordinating funding deadlines, and preparing financial statements and other reports

• Coordinate external appointments, meetings, public appearances, or presentations of key staff; assist in preparation of materials and PowerPoint presentations for public events; organize logistics.

• Assist the SLI team in maintaining effective relationships with a wide variety of public, private and non-profit officials and organizations, including national and local partner organizations, representatives of Federal, State and local government, funders, businesses, industry associations and media outlets.

• Draft, review, or edit official correspondence and other written materials; assist Green For All staff in effective preparation of such materials to ensure compliance with Green For All policies, procedures or protocol.

• Perform other related duties as required.


Qualifications:

• Five years experience doing work relevant to this position

The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) is an international nonprofit organization headquartered in Chicago, IL USA. Our mission is to alleviate world hunger. We do this by supporting food banks and food bank networks where they exist, and by working collaboratively to create them in countries and communities where they are needed. Interns for Cook County Stimulus and Revitalization Project

The Cook County Stimulus and Revitalization Project (CCSRP) is seeking student interns majoring in the fields of economic development, marketing , communications, finance, real estate, information technology, urban planning, healthcare administration, public administration, and law.


The CCSRP assists municipalities in acquiring vacant and abandoned tax delinquent commercial and industrial properties. Once these properties are acquired, they are developed and returned to the tax rolls. This helps expand the tax base and lessens the tax burden on homeowners. The project also creates new, sustainable jobs and enhances the quality of life in the affected communities.


The project will not provide monetary compensation to its interns but they will gain valuable experience in their respective fields which will help them as they work to achieve their future career goals. The students will play a key role in helping the CCSRP obtain its objectives and their participation will help ameliorate foreclosure/abandonment rates, eliminate blight, and work towards revitalizing Cook County as a whole.


This innovative project is the first of its size and kind anywhere in the United States and interns will work directly on enhancing the project’s mission. CTBA Seeks Research and Policy Specialist
(Public Pensions and Local Government)

The Center for Tax and Budget Accountability ("CTBA") is a bi-partisan 501(c)(3) non-profit research and advocacy think tank that promotes fair, efficient and progressive tax, spending and economic policies. CTBA seeks to hire a Research and Policy Specialist to assume a leadership role in the organization's public pensions and local government research portfolios.

*Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: *

- Identify, analyze, and respond to federal, state and local public pension, other retiree benefits and fiscal policy issues;
- Conduct research and analysis and write papers on public pension, other retiree benefits, economic and local government issues;
- Identify emerging issues in pension, other retiree benefits and local government finance;
- Lead and coordinate research;
- Assist in reports authored by other staff;
- Maintain and update the organization's "IRSI" (Illinois Retirement Security Initiative) website;

*Candidates for the position should have:*
A degree in public policy, public administration, economics, or a related field (e.g. law). Experience in policy analysis or research.

Familiarity with state or local government and legislative processes highly desirable. Ability to supervise interns and volunteers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly to lay audiences both in writing and through public speaking. Strong quantitative and analytic skills, including familiarity with spreadsheets, computer graphics, and statistical analysis software. Self-motivation, ability to work independently, and ability to prioritize tasks. Willingness to work as a part of a team.

Annual salary range $35,000 to $45,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include healthcare and a defined contribution plan.

IFF recently received funding for a program called Health Care for Healthy Communities. This program will offer design, construction and finance for community health centers through IFF’s five state region, for projects between $5 million and $25 million. Over the next three to five years, through this program IFF plans to construct at least ten new community health centers in low-income communities that will reflect state of the art design in the health care industry. We are seeking a graduate policy student intern for the fall to assist with gathering and analyzing data and information related to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and other related areas.


The intern will complete the following work:

  • Develop a template for collection of vital information on potential FQHC clients in IFF’s five state region.
  • Conduct research on FQHCs--history, board, volume, grant awards and applications, and business services.
  • Analyze communities on access points, demographics and key political factors.
  • Develop metrics for health center facilities around square footage, volume, insurance class, expenses and revenue.

The internship requires 15 to 20 hours of work per week from October 2011 through March 2012, possibly longer. Experience and interest in health care policy and finance preferred, GIS and data analysis experience required.

Provide regulatory expertise, guidance and administrative support to the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) reviewing human subject research protocols. Attain and maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of human subject research protections and IRB regulations as contained in 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50 & 52, and VHA Handbooks and serve as the subject matter expert by providing guidance and training to researchers, faculty, staff, students and IRB members. The coordinator may also make regulatory determinations as delegated by the IRB chairs.

1. Serve as subject matter expert by educating, consulting and guiding researchers, faculty, staff, and students in the design and conduct of human subject research to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and UIC policy.

2. Advise research personnel in preparing research protocols and subsequent submissions for IRB review.

3. Educate and guide IRB members on the federal and state regulations and UIC policies governing human subject research.

4. Pre-review all types of research protocol submissions to ensure that individual research protocols involving human subjects are in compliance with federal regulations, state laws and University policies and procedures for conducting research. Approve research as delegated by the IRB Chair.

5. Compose letters that accurately document the determinations of the IRB and describe any revisions required by the research team

6. Maintain IRB-required record keeping and prepare correspondence to UIC investigators, study sponsors, and regulatory agencies that document the determinations of the IRB.

7. Develop and implement education sessions on topics related to human subjects research protections to UIC researchers and IRB members

8. Prepare agenda, meeting materials for distribution to IRB members and attend IRB meetings.

9. Prepare meeting minutes for review.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in biomedical, health science, social sciences or related field is required; Master's degree in a health care or regulatory related field desired. Certification as an IRB Professional (CIP) desired. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience directly related to human subject research or 2-4 years of experience in a related area are required. Knowledge of the federal regulations and guidelines that govern the conduct of research involving human subjects, including 45 CFR 46 and 21 CFR 50, 56, 312 and 812.
