As Aspiritech’s Fundraising Manager, you will be an integral part of our mission-driven team and lead our efforts in growing fundraising income through foundation partners, grant opportunities, and individual donors.

Project Overview 

UI has been hired by a large charitable organization to evaluate several programs they have funded. UI will be conducting evaluations on several nonprofits to understand how each program has helped beneficiaries and how the organization can better support this work. While most of the measurement and evaluation will be done virtually, we would like a local university student to visit the site in person and gain experience interacting with a local social impact organization. 

 

This project will be reviewing an organization focused on refugee resettlement in Carol Stream, IL.  Travel or transportation costs will be covered in a stipend. 

 

Position Overview 

The student will work for about 8 to 20 hours over the span of 1 to 2 weeks.  4-5 hours are required in a one day visit to Carol Stream. The remaining hours will be remote. As a paid impact analyst contracted with UI, the student will visit the site in person and meet with staff and program beneficiaries. This in-person visit is essential in understanding the nonprofit’s work and impact. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Training: UI’s Measurement and Evaluation Team will hold a few video calls to train the student and help them understand the project.
  • Site Visit: The student will visit the organization that is being evaluated in person.
  • Interviews: The student will interview a few beneficiaries of the program using a list of questions provided by UI. Through these interviews, the students will learn more about how the project helped the beneficiaries.
  • Write-Up: After the site visit and interviews, the student will create a short write-up describing what they learned.

Assistant Director of Development - Openlands

The Assistant Director of Development supports the Director of Development in leading and managing all aspects of fundraising to advance the mission of Openlands. This role includes supporting the Institutional Grants Manager with grant opportunity prospecting and follow-through from private foundations, corporate philanthropies, and government agencies.  The Assistant Director of Development will design and implement a planned giving program for the organization. Because communication is fundamental to this position, this person will lead the marketing and communication efforts of the Development function in partnership with the Director of Communications, expertly maintaining consistency with the Openlands brand guidelines and standard of excellence. Planning & Policy Program Manager - American Public Transportation Association (DC)

Director of Development - Cure Violence Global (Chicago)

Who: Cure Violence Global (CVG) is a new start-up NGO, and led by Gary Slutkin, M.D., former head of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Intervention Development Unit, and Professor of Epidemiology and International Health at the University of Illinois / Chicago School of Public Health.
Cure Violence is a teaching, training, research and assessment organization focused on a health approach to violence prevention. The Cure Violence health model is used by more than 50 communities in the U.S., as well as countries ranging from El Salvador to South Africa to Syria.

What: The Director of Development will be responsible for collaborating with the Executive director, Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Directors to implement a strategic approach to securing private revenue from individuals, corporations, foundations and government entities to ensure the growth and sustainability of CVG.

Senior Associate for Opportunity Youth Strategies, Thrive Chicago

Who: Thrive Chicago serves as the local backbone in Chicago of the national 100,000 Opportunities Initiative (www.100Kopportunities.org). The 100K initiative aims to be the largest employer-led coalition in the country focused on Opportunity Youth and is currently active in eight cities.

What: As an integral member of Thrive’s dynamic and growing team, the Senior Associate for Opportunity Youth Strategies will work with key partners to support Thrive’s OY strategies aimed at reducing the number of Chicago youth not in school or working. What: America Walks is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as a Program Coordinator for America Walks. The position will work with senior staff to coordinate programs, develop and implement technical assistance efforts, and conduct evaluation and quality assurance strategies for all of America Walks education and training programming.

Data Analyst - Heartland Alliance (DEADLINE 2/15)

Who: Heartland Alliance - Social IMPACT Research Center. The Social IMPACT Research Center conducts applied research for nonprofits, foundations, advocacy groups, governments, coalitions, and the media to help them measure, inform, and grow their social impact. IMPACT also regularly reports on key poverty trends to equip decision makers with sound data to inform public policy.

What: The Data Analyst is responsible for working with quantitative and qualitative data in all capacities on a wide variety of IMPACT’s research projects. Individual accountability and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below. Health Justice Intern – The Praxis Project (Temporary, Full Time) (Oakland)

Who: The Praxis Project is a values-driven, national nonprofit organization that seeks to improve health justice through partnerships to build community power. Praxis believes strongly that organized communities are critical partners in the struggle to create healthy communities. Praxis works with over 200 diverse grassroots groups across the United States that influence local policy, mobilize communities, and strengthen programs and organizations to improve health justice. Praxis works in strong partnership to enable local efforts to build community power through training, technical assistance, and capacity building services, as well as comprehensive fiscal sponsorship. Originations Analyst- National Equity Fund, Inc. (Chicago or NY)

Who: National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), a leading non-profit syndicator of low-income housing tax credits.

What: Originations Analyst for Chicago or New York offices. The primary function of these positions is to provide analytical support to the originators on a regional team in the underwriting of low-income housing tax credit investments. The analyst will assist in evaluating the feasibility of investments including, evaluating the market, sponsor capacity, reviewing loan documents, and preparing projections; prepare engagement or commitment letters, assist with investment committee write-ups, investment proposal, closings, and evaluation of potential adjusters post-closing. In addition, candidate must be able to analyze project’s financing, development budget, construction schedule, operating expenses, debt service, market comparability and developer capacity; utilize and become proficient in NEF’s pricing and underwriting model. Data Analyst - MAPSCorps (Chicago)

Who: MAPSCorps (Meaningful-Active-Productive Science in Service to Communities), a nonprofit organization that provides urban youth with meaningful employment and STEM training opportunities through an innovative technology-based community asset mapping program. MAPSCorps partners with NowPow, a healthcare technology company that consumes the MAPSCorps data to connect community residents to the vital information needed to stay well and live long. NowPow, a for-profit social enterprise, and MAPSCorps, a 501c3, together make up a self-sustaining collective social impact business. MAPSCorps and NowPow catalyze communities by building the workforce of the future and improving the health and vitality of people, businesses, and organizations.

What: The Data Analyst reports to the Executive Director. The Analyst works closely with the Program Manager and is responsible for data processing, reports, and data visualization. During the data collection (mapping) period, the Analyst will supervise seasonal Data Coordinators to ensure efficient data processing and high-quality data. The Data Analyst also manages the MAPSCorps data requests process and mines the MAPSCorps datasets to provide reports and data visualizations to management and partners. The Analyst will work with the Program Manager on outreach efforts to grow data partners and users. The Analysts will also work closely with the MAPSCorps’ engineer to maintain and optimize annually the database, data collection tools, and website. In addition, the Analyst will provide guidance and support efforts to train youth on basic data analytics and visualization techniques. Due to the start-up nature of the organization, there will also be times that will require the Analyst to contribute to other organizational tasks such as reviewing grants, and assisting with program implementation and reporting requirements. About Build Public
Incorporated in 2012, Build Public is a mission-driven 501(c)3 nonprofit venture dedicated to innovating the public placemaking process through creative physical, institutional, and policy design. We are pioneering efforts within our San Francisco community to create, improve and safeguard those spaces that exist in the public realm – our plazas, parks, playgrounds, and neighborhoods.

Build Public is focused on leveraging innovative public-private partnerships to create and deliver: 1) new public open space projects in San Francisco; and 2) robust governance and financing systems for the long-term maintenance and stewardship of such public spaces. The former we call our "Build Public Place" program area; the latter is our growing "Build Public Stewardship" program area, which includes our Green Benefit District projects.

About the Position
This is an exciting opportunity to engage in civic entrepreneurship for both immediate and long term impact. Build Public is seeking a new Program Manager to take on existing and new "Build Public Stewardship" projects, involving the development of innovative small-scale governance and financing systems to effectively maintain and steward public open spaces in San Francisco.

The Stewardship Program Manager will be responsible for growing Build Public's Green Benefit District (GBD) program, consulting for the Dogpatch & Northwest Potrero Hill GBD as needed. The Program Manager will also guide the establishment of two new Community Facilities Districts (CFDs) in association with two of our San Francisco public plaza projects: Eagle Plaza and Oak Plaza. Additionally, with initial guidance from Build Public's Executive Director and Strategic Advisor, the Program Manager is expected to grow the Build Public Stewardship program area by continually exploring new GBD and CFD creation opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter wanting to enter a fast-paced and dynamic entrepreneurial environment, who has a strong interest in governance systems, public infrastructure financing mechanisms, and innovative ways to improve the long-term maintenance and stewardship of San Francisco's public spaces. S/he has prior professional experience managing complex projects with minimal supervision or direction, taking ownership of a project and proactively problem-solving. In this externally facing community engagement role, the ability to campaign and effectively communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders is critical.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in planning, business, nonprofit management, or related field. Graduate degree a plus.
  • Strong interest in being an integral part of a fast-paced startup environment; ability to self-direct and proactively problem-solve; flexibility and adaptability as project objectives and processes evolve over time; strong desire to learn.
  • Professional project management experience involving coordination of multiple parties and complex schedules, in the fields of real estate development, urban planning, public policy, economic development, construction, architecture/design or related industries.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - must be an excellent writer, and must be able to clearly articulate verbally, both internally and externally to community members and clients; strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills - proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or other tools for creating and managing project budgets and timelines, proforma and rate analyses, etc. Ability to learn new quantitative skills quickly.
  • Familiarity with the concept of property-based financing districts, such as Community Facilities Districts (a.k.a. Mello-Roos Districts) and Business Improvement Districts (and their San Francisco analogs: Community Benefit Districts and Green Benefit Districts).
  • An entrepreneurial and open-minded attitude, and a strong eagerness to learn.

Job Summary
Enterprise Community Partners is dedicated to expanding our understanding of the role of design in community development – from architectural design of affordable housing, to urban planning and community engagement, to design thinking as a collaborative process for innovation. The Design department is leading the national community design movement in these areas. It currently houses the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship and related activities including providing tools and resources for the field, developing a framework for designing for health and social outcomes, and convening nationally on issues of design and social equity. 

The Program Director of the Rose Architectural Fellowship will be a strategic contributor to this growing team, managing all aspects of the fellowship from which other department initiatives stem. The Program Director will be responsible for the successful management and daily operation of the three-year fellowship program, including but not limited to host organization and fellow recruitment and selection, fellowship training curriculum and convenings (programming for retreats and orientations, bi-weekly calls, learning collaboratives, etc.), network building and mentoring of fellows, monitoring and reporting, speaking publicly about the fellowship and its achievements, and program marketing and communications.

The incumbent must have solid communication, organizational, analytical, and administrative skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while also being a though-leader in the field with a strategic vision for the program and the ability implement improvements. Additionally, the ability to mentor the fellows and their hosts, championing success within complex relationships and projects, is essential for the overall success of the program.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage and is responsible for all facets of the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship program: manage host organization and fellowship application processes; coordinate outreach on Fellowship opportunities including candidate recruitment, site visits, info sessions, applications, interviews, presentations, award processes and related materials; manage fellowship reporting; coordinate fellowship trainings, regular conference calls, and retreats. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to include Rose Fellows, leading architects, and developers to create tools and resources for Enterprise’s community design online platform.
  • Lead fundraising and grant writing efforts for the Design Initiatives department including developing proposals and completing progress and activity reports as required by funders.
  • Contribute intellectual leadership to expanding Enterprise’s Design Leadership Initiative. 
  • Apply for and present at conferences on program achievements and thought leadership in the fields of both design and development. 
  • Manage all aspects of program marketing and communications: in collaboration with Online Services team and Design Team Associate, update related websites with new materials, opportunities and information; keep blog and social media updated and current.
  • Provide a high degree of customer service and quick, courteous response to requests for information and assistance from internal and external customers.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field and at least six (6) years of experience, preferably managing complex programs for nonprofit or mission-driven organizations; graduate degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience
  • Interest, knowledge and/or experience in community architecture, green building and community planning
  • Architectural design skills are not required, but an interest and ability in growing the leadership capacity in community development and design is a necessity
  • Proven ability to foster and mentor young professionals 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and solve problems, prioritize conflicting demands, plan work effectively, follow-up and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Actively participates in team-oriented activities, builds relationships
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work occasional overtime and for national travel (approximately 12-15 trips per year)
