The successful Media Relations Specialist will:
  • Assist Communications Manager with the development of the Media Relations Plan, including management of consultant relationship, outreach activities targeting both the mainstream and investments trade media. 
  • Write and review press releases, op-ed’s, and letters to the editor; respond to media inquiries; prep senior leaders for interviews; facilitate media attendance at IMRF Board meetings; serve as an IMRF spokesperson; and track media inquiries and coverage. The position also prepares and reviews various communications collateral for use during media interviews and speaking engagements. 
  • Assist Communications Manager in the development and execution of IMRF’s ongoing Social Media Plan, including the use of analytics to measure impact of strategies, identify gaps, and implement improvements. 
  • .Manage IMRF’s annual series of workshops for retirees and the general public.  Responsibilities include attending more than a dozen workshops spread across the state; developing communications collateral for dissemination; providing an update on IMRF activities for the year; and fielding  questions. 
  • Coordinate media outreach activities during series of annual meetings and webinars with IMRF employers. Responsibilities include attending close to a dozen meetings spread across the state; coordinating meetings held via webinar; developing communications collateral for dissemination at meetings; and facilitating onsite media interviews with IMRF senior leaders, and serving as a spokesperson as required. 
  • Plan and execute educational videos for external stakeholders.

Desired Skills and Experience

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS). A degree in communications, journalism or a related field is preferred. 
  • 5 years experience in a similar position with responsibilities for media relations. 
  • Prior experience measuring and articulating the impact of communications strategies and implementing improvements. 
  • Prior experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with members of the media.

The Community and Regional Planning Program at the University of New Mexico is seeking candidates for a tenure track position starting in the Fall 2016 academic year.
The Planning Program is seeking a tenure track assistant professor in the area of Latin American development planning. Teaching requirements will include a graduate seminar in Latin American Development Planning, and may include Cultural Aspects of Planning, Regional Community Development, planning studios and practicums, Indigenous Planning in Latin America, and topical courses in his or her area of specialization. The successful candidate will be familiar with Latin American economic development theory and practice, community economic development, application of indigeneity and broadly defined sustainability principles in Latin American Planning, and methods of collaborative planning and consensus building. The candidate should be grounded in the discourse on identity and place and community-based approaches to development in community and regional settings. The program is particularly interested in seeking candidates with research and/or practice in areas such as Indigenous Planning.
Minimum Qualifications: 1) Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning or a terminal professional degree in planning or a related field; 2) demonstrated teaching experience; and 3) research or practice experience in community development planning or a related field. The Community and Regional Planning Program in the School of Architecture & Planning at the University of New Mexico offers a professional Master of Community and Regional Planning degree, accredited since 1985, and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Planning and Design. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Assistant Village Manager, this position is assigned administrative and management work designed to provide professional support to both the Assistant Village Manager and Village Manager. A minimum of two years of internship experience or experience in a similar position in local government administration, which shall have been at the level of administrative or management intern or higher. Job Description
The Position:
Health by Design seeks an experienced planning professional to guide its Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program. The program manager will be responsible for the accelerated development, management, administration and evaluation of Health by Design’s Safe Routes to School efforts.
The program manager will work with Health by Design staff and partners, City of Indianapolis staff, employees of schools and school districts, parents, youth and community stakeholders to educate on the benefits of walking and biking to school and to advocate for policies and projects that make it safer and easier for schoolchildren to walk and bike.
The Indiana Safe Routes to School Partnership is a workgroup of Health by Design (www.healthbydesignonline.org), an Alliance for Health Promotion initiative.
This position will require some travel within the state of Indiana; infrequent out of state travel will be necessary for training opportunities. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
This position is funded through December 2016, with the expectation, but not commitment, of ongoing funding. Salary is negotiable; the position includes excellent benefits.
Education & Experience:
A planning-related Master’s Degree is preferred, as is the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) credential. A Bachelor’s Degree in public health, education, social work, community planning/design, engineering, public administration or a related field is required.

Required Education and Experience:

THE POSITION

  • Develops and standardizes procedures and methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of building inspection, plans examination and permit processing services and activities.
  • Performs preliminary review of projects submitted to the Design Review Committee and Planning Commission; performs site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local construction codes; works closely with other departments in addressing Town construction projects and code interpretations.
  • Issues Certificates of Occupancy for new construction; addresses building appeals relating to Town codes and ordinances; reviews alternate materials and methods of construction and unreasonable hardship requests; oversees special inspection and structural observations programs.
  • Manages and participates in the development and administration of, and oversees, the division budget.
  • Participates in the selection, trains, motivates and evaluates assigned personnel.
  • Develops and reviews staff reports; presents reports to the Town Council, commissions, committees and boards.
  • Serves as source of information for developers, engineers, property owners and contractors regarding Building Code and Town construction regulations.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License by time of appointment.
  • Certifications as a Building Official, Plans Examiner, and Accessibility Inspector by the International Code Council.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Office of Redevelopment within the Department of Policy & Redevelopment is a division of the City of Knoxville’s Mayor’s Office. The Office aggressively pursues creative methods to leverage city economic resources to further Knoxville’s quality growth.
Its duties are to facilitate activities of urban growth management, major capital investment projects and public input processes for city projects and services, especially in the downtown area and adjacent neighborhoods. Employees serve “at will” and are not Civil Service.
We are seeking two experienced professionals as Project Managers to perform duties related to the department and the development and implementation of assigned projects. To learn more about our projects and goals visit us at www.knoxvilletn.gov/redevelopment.  
POSITION SUMMARY
The successful applicant(s) will:
  • Serve as Project Manager for the City on assigned projects.
  • Work directly with the Office of Redevelopment staff to manage and to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with other City departments, partner agencies, contractors, engineering and design consultants, developers, property owners, and the general public.
  • Analyze and evaluate a variety of plans associated with public and private development projects.
  • Assist with committee meetings, workshops, and administrative tasks, serving on assigned committees as City representatives.
  • Prepare and deliver oral, graphic, and written presentations.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and other software packages as relevant.
  • Attend various City administrative functions including City Council meetings and/or workshops and other Planning and Zoning Boards (MPC, TPO, BZA) meetings, County Commissions, public meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance, facilitate meetings, and serve to develop innovative and collaborative solutions based on assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral, graphic) and be comfortable in representing the mayor in group settings and before decision-making bodies. In addition, competencies must be demonstrated in one or more of the following general areas:
  • Urban Design
  • Zoning (i.e. short term and long range plans, comprehensive plans, form based codes, overlay zoning, and historic preservation)
  • Community improvement programs
  • Development tools and techniques
  • Brownfield assessment and mitigation processes
  • Grant management
  • Budget preparation and administration
 EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in planning, urban design, engineering, environmental science, construction management, economics, public policy, public administration, business administration, architecture or related discipline. Preference given to applicants with Master’s Degrees and/or professional certifications.
COMPENSATION: $55,000 – $85,000 depending on experience
