Schedule

  • 30 hours weekly
  • After School Program Hours: Monday-Friday 2 PM - 6:30 PM
  • Summer Program Hours: Monday-Friday 9 AM- 3 PM
  • Additional hours for evening or weekend field trips, family communication, staff meetings, team co-working time, trainings, etc.

Position Description: After School Mentor

  • Mentor a small group of youth (8-10 students) to promote their social and academic growth which includes participation in after school programming and activities that support that goal.
  • Lead one Mentor Outing each month, taking 2-3 children on an extracurricular activity
  • Cooperate with R CITY team to plan and produce excellent, safe, and reliable programming for after school and summer programs for students grades K-8.
  • Plan and teach goal-based activities or lessons for a small group of students grades K-8 within after-school and summer programs.
  • Develop relationships with parents/guardians, teachers and school personnel for R CITY students in grades K-8, utilizing those relationships to promote their social and academic growth.
  • Cooperate with R CITY team on whole-group aspects of after school programming, including but not limited to space preparation and cleanup, small group teaching, and enrichment time.
  • Attend staff and organizational meetings and trainings as requested.
  • Adhere to all R CITY, Chicago Public Schools, and Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority policies and procedures, as well as written and spoken guidelines and expectations.

Graduation and Resource Coordinator, Chicago Public Schools

The Office of Student Supports and Engagement (OSSE) provides comprehensive supports to help students become more connected to and engaged in school. We provide re-engagement services for out-of-school youth; resources to eliminate barriers for students in temporary living situations; attendance and truancy guidance for families, schools, and networks; and extended learning opportunities to enhance all students’ core academic experience while engaging parents and community members in school-led activities.

The Graduation and Resource Coordinator will play a key role in developing systems of support for students re-entering school, progressing toward graduation from high school and preparing for post-secondary success. This position will work closely with the high school network transition specialists to monitor re-entry intervention and transition plans. This will include reviewing and responding to engagement, transfer, drop out and off-track data for key groups including students enrolled in Student Outreach and Re-Engagement (SOAR), Students in Temporary Living Situations (STLS) and Juvenile Justice Reentry programs. Additionally, the Graduation and Resource Coordinator will be responsible for designing templates and monitoring tools for graduation and transition plans appropriate for the challenges, interests and profiles of dis-engaged and under-engaged students. The Graduation and Resource Coordinator will work closely with teams managing key Office of Student Support and Engagement (OSSE) initiatives, including re-engagement for disconnected youth. This position will work with key stakeholders, including principals and school leaders, parents, students, vendors, and community-based organizations, and will report to the Program Manager, Student Support & Engagement.

The Graduation and Resource Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

·         Develop resources and establish an information clearinghouse pertaining to post-secondary planning and options for OSSE team, students, families, and school staff

·         Collaborate with external stakeholders, including post-secondary partner organizations and community-based program providers

·         Manage vendor relations for centralized school-based engagement supports

·         Maintain a comprehensive list of program partners and their associated services for reference by schools and other CPS stakeholders

·         Develop graduation and transition guidance for schools in alignment with CPS graduation standards; work with network teams to deliver appropriate training to counselors on graduation plans for re-engaged youth

·         Work with the Office of Student Counseling and Postsecondary Advising (OSCPA) as well as the Office of Equity to ensure alignment with graduation planning, school-based interventions, and other best practices

·         Regularly engage with OSSE team members to ensure consistency across workstreams as they relate to graduation and transition planning

·         Oversee OSSE compliance with graduation action planning, case management practices and mandates

·         Report on OSSE graduation planning outcomes and continuously improve the OSSE case management and post-reengagement monitoring and supports strategy

·         Provide reports as requested to internal and external project stakeholders including, but not limited to, CPS Leadership, the Mayor’s Office, various Community Based Organizations

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Graduation and Resource Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required

·         Bachelor’s Degree in School Counseling, Education, or related field from an accredited college or university

·         Master’s degree preferred

Experience Required

·         Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a position responsible for coordinating or managing complex projects, including the following, is required:

·         Experience working with Community Based Organizations, City Colleges, or other education or youth development organizations serving youth in Chicago

Job Summary 

The Program Coordinator will play a critical role in optimizing Out of School Time operations and compliance at CPS. They will provide operational support for Out of School Time (OST) programs and partners. They will manage OST grants, ensure compliance with OST procurement processes, and support OST reporting. Additionally, the Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of key OST projects, including the OST Data Capture Project* and CPS’ Child Learning Hubs.** They will oversee project team members, and work with key stakeholders, including principals and school leaders, parents, students, vendors, and community based organizations.   • The OST Data Capture project is an initiative to capture OST data district-wide in order to increase equity of access to OST program
  • Learning Hubs are facilities staffed by partner organizations that provide remote learning supervision services for high-needs families

The Program Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

Typical Duties/Responsibilities

  • Regularly engage principal and community member advisor council to weigh in on OST decisions socialize OST opportunities
  • Manage the data capture process from final design, pilot, full launch, and managing ongoing operations and school level execution 
  • Help guide OST data conversations and socialize data capture best practices 
  • Mange the day-to-day operations of the Child Learning Hub initiative 
  • Regularly engage central office departments in decision-making and ensure OST partners across departments are supported from an operational standpoint 
  • Provide expedited basic technical support for schools gathering OST data 
  • Unify vendor processes across departments and create content-area agnostic process for vendors looking to provide OST programs and other services

Healthy CPS Hotline Coordinator - Chicago Public Schools

The Office of Student Health and Wellness aims to remove health-related barriers to learning such that students may succeed in college, career, and life.

The Healthy CPS Hotline Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for callers to learn more about all of the Chicago Public Schools’ Healthy CPS initiatives and programs. They serve as the frontline for all health-related issues and concerns raised by schools and communities. Examples include, but are not limited to, lice infestation, infectious disease outbreak, medical compliance, training for school staff on public health policy and guidelines, health insurance enrollment and access to primary care, school food program, access to health services and food security programs, and all other related public health issues and concerns.

DPQ Programs Coordinator - Chicago Public Schools

  • Uses a variety of sources (such as Edulog, Zonar/Edutracker GPS systems, city road closures and construction materials, etc.) and abstract thinking skills to gather, sort, compile / break down and analyze transportation and student data to recommend and develop an optimal number of single bus runs through the metropolitan area of Chicago.
  • May develop some basic city-wide bus routes.
Identifies Tiering Feasibility:
  • Determines the operational feasibility of current run pairings through comparative analysis of multiple data systems. 
Logistical and Statistical Data Analysis:
  • Utilizes transportation routing software to coordinate and review various data (stop creation, student type, school information, bell time) and transportation requirements of eligible students from various audiences (such as diversity groups) to recommend optimal runs.
  • Works with school transportation coordinators and bus monitors to validate student ridership data.
  • Generates and analyzes various reports, such as vendor change and vendor summary reports.
Vendor Management:
  • Generates and analyzes various reports, such as vendor change and vendor summary reports to monitor and evaluate vendor performance levels at assigned schools.
  • Aggregates, distributes, and manages daily vendor KPI’s.
  • Fosters successful business relationships with assigned small to medium size vendors.
Communicates with various internal and external audiences:
  • Provides guidance and explanations on detailed bus runs information and changes due to a range of circumstances to various audiences (schools, vendors, parents, and students). Some information conveyed to the audiences is of critical nature.
  • Answers routine questions / investigates and resolves basic inquiries / concerns from parents, general public and CPS staff concerning bus routing, scheduling, and school boundaries and escalates highly complex inquiries to the senior staff. Utilizes independent judgment and tact when dealing with some conflicting situations.
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned. 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Associate degree in logistics, supply chain management, hospitality, information technology, business or related field. Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, hospitality, information technology, business or related field is preferred. 
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in travel, transportation, customer service, and/or hospitality industry, including some experience with transportation routing/scheduling systems preferred, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Chicago geographic area, city streets, road system, and traffic patterns.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
  • Strong map reading and mathematical skills to make accurate math calculations. 
  • Understanding of bell times and time-sensitivity of projects.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of individual school transportation service requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion.

Position Summary:

Under direction, supervises and coordinates the work of professional staff responsible for reviewing programs and operations in the Chicago Public Schools and making recommendations to improve their effectiveness, and performs related duties as required

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Plans, assigns and monitors the work of professional staff engaged in the conduct of performance analyses of Chicago Public Schools departments, programs and schools, and making recommendations on the efficient and economical acquisition, protection and utilization of city Chicago Public Schools’ resources
  • Reviews completed performance analysis reports for quality and content ensuring that the causes of inefficiencies and uneconomical practices are detailed and departmental operations are in compliance with city rules and policies
  • Evaluates the soundness of submitted recommendations and provides alternatives to address inefficiencies
  • Establishes, modifies and implements policies and procedures relative to the conduct of performance analyses
  • Develops work standards and conducts performance evaluations of subordinate personnel
  • Assists senior investigative staff in the conduct of large-scale and complex investigations as required

Minimum Qualifications:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), an employee must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago within six months of the date of his/her employment with Chicago public schools.
