The Technical Assistant is responsible for supporting the Transportation Team’s planning initiatives associated with NIRPC’s role as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties in Indiana. The selected candidate will:

 

Collect Data Outdoors

·         Collaborate with NIRPC and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to identify traffic count locations and develop traffic count schedules

·         Install and retrieve outdoor automated roadway and trail traffic data collection devices on roadways and multi-use trails

·         Document physical features of sidewalk locations and quality, bicycle lane locations and quality, roadway pavement conditions, etc.

·         Collect travel time data in peak (6am – 9am and 3pm – 7pm) and off-peak hours (9am – 3pm)

·         Maintain personal safety when collecting data and be available to be contacted by others on NIRPC staff via mobile phone when in the field

·         Assist with other in-field data collection for the Transportation or Environment Team as required

 

Maintain Data Collection Equipment, Supplies, and Vehicle

·         Monitor and report the condition of roadway and trail traffic data collection devices

·         Conduct physical inventories of traffic data collection devices

·         Maintain and make minor repairs to traffic data collection devices

·         Arrange for maintenance and repairs of traffic data collection devices

·         Maintain the NIRPC vehicle used for in-field data collection (bring for tune-ups, tire rotations, oil changes, etc.)

 

At the Office Duties

·         Assist in maintaining the database of traffic counts collected

·         Download count data from field collection devices to NIRPC and INDOT databases

·         Share data for planning activities and for display on NIRPC website

·         Assist in the preparation of reports with collected data for internal and external users

·         Respond to inquiries pertaining to roadway and trail data

·         Deliver planning documents to interested parties

·         Assist in the development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) work products

·         Other duties as assigned

Community Organizer - Englewood Quality of Life Initiative (EQLI)

Research and Analysis Assistant – CMAP

Data Analyst - MAPSCorps (Chicago)

What: The Data Analyst reports to the Executive Director. The Analyst works closely with the Program Manager and is responsible for data processing, reports, and data visualization. During the data collection (mapping) period, the Analyst will supervise seasonal Data Coordinators to ensure efficient data processing and high-quality data. The Data Analyst also manages the MAPSCorps data requests process and mines the MAPSCorps datasets to provide reports and data visualizations to management and partners. The Analyst will work with the Program Manager on outreach efforts to grow data partners and users. The Analysts will also work closely with the MAPSCorps’ engineer to maintain and optimize annually the database, data collection tools, and website. information collection, light land use analysis, map making and other tasks. Writing and

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in a related field and/or bachelor's degree with two

National Community Investment Fund (NCIF; www.ncif.org) is a non-profit fund set up in 1996  to invest capital into CDFI, minority and mission-oriented banks and other financial institutions  around the country that increase access to responsible financial products and services in underserved communities. It is currently the largest investor in the mission-oriented banking industry, with investments in 15% of all certified CDFI banks.

NCIF is looking for a senior analyst to become a part of an entrepreneurial team in building our business. Specific responsibilities will include:

Social Performance Metrics and Research

1. Support implementation the NCIF Impact Plan around
(a) data collection (building a comprehensive Impact Database)
(b) data analysis and conversion to actionable “information” for lending and investing activities,
(c) scorecards/ratings/indexes as appropriate,
(d) publications and
(e) outreach/communications to NCIF stakeholders

2. Collect, analyze and evaluate social impact metrics, loan origination (HMDA, commercial real estate, small business and other lending), branch location and other impact data to calculate the social impact of banks in the NCIF Network;

The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) seeks a Planning Intern. SSMMA is a non-profit Council of Government representing 44 communities in south Cook and eastern Will counties. The Planning Intern will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and input data used by SSMMA Housing staff and South Suburban Land Bank and Development Authority (SSLBDA) staff to identify, evaluate, and make inferences on trends used to assist with decision-making using ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel.
  • Conduct research and prepare results for use by SSMMA and SSLBDA staff on planning initiatives, site development opportunities, and local ordinances.
  • Update and maintain records pertaining to properties donated, purchased, or considered by the SSLBDA.

    Required Skills
    The Planning Analyst should have a working knowledge of ArcGIS software including ESRI ArcGIS 10.3 and ArcGIS Online. Familiarity with ESRI Business Analyst Online, ArcServer, ESRI Network Analyst, and ESRI Spatial Analyst is desirable.
    A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in progress in urban and regional planning or related field of study is required. Relevant professional experience may be substituted for education.
