The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning is seeking to hire a Web Front-End Developer. CMAP is
the official regional planning organization for the northeastern Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage,
Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will. CMAP developed and now guides the implementation of
metropolitan Chicago's first comprehensive regional plan in more than 100 years, GO TO 2040, which
was adopted unanimously by leaders from across the seven counties in fall 2010. To address
anticipated population growth of more than 2 million new residents, GO TO 2040 is an innovative,
policy-based plan that establishes coordinated strategies that help the region’s 284 communities
address transportation, housing, economic development, open space, the environment, and other

Position Description
Individual will work with Communications Director to enhance the CMAP website to better
communicate agency priorities through development of the agency's web front end. This position
includes designing, developing, testing and maintaining web applications within a Microsoft
platform. The CMAP website (www.cmap.illinois.gov) is based on a commercially supported,
open-source portal-based CMS. The agency contracts with web development and hosting consultants and
the CMAP web front-end developer will help guide those consultants' efforts while also leading
development projects that are independent of the consultants. The qualified candidate must be a
self-starter who enjoys working with technology to achieve web communication objectives and be
visually oriented, creative, and highly attuned to the user's experience.

Essential Functions:
•  Develop easy-to-maintain web tools and templates that enhance the agency's website.
•  Program and implement web content that is faithful to design mockups.
•  Interface with web hosting and development consultants under contract to CMAP.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Attention to detail and taking responsibility for fine tuning and quality checking, is required.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:


•  a creative mindset and good eye for design issues (graphics, typography, and spacing), as well
as high standards of quality assurance.



•  experience developing standards-based, semantic and well-formatted HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and
other UI technologies.
•  experience with CSS preprocessors (SASS, Less, Stylus).
•  web/application server administration experience (Apache, Tomcat, etc.).
•  experience with Apache Velocity
•  working knowledge of web analytics and SEO best practices
•  familiarity with version control, browser testing, and responsive design



Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or other appropriate IT discipline and prior work
experience in web front-end development is required. Experience working within a Microsoft Windows
environment and developing for Linux based web applications required. Candidates must be at ease
working in the context of a complex web application, while not necessarily understanding all of its
intricacies. Familiarity with Javascript markup libraries (e.g., jQuery, YUI, Prototype, Ext) and
Java template engines is necessary (e.g., Velocity, Freemarker). Candidate should have experience
working collaboratively with graphic designers and be familiar with PhotoShop and/or comparable
image processing software (e.g., Gimp, Fireworks).

Experience with Firebug (and/or equivalents) for troubleshooting and quality assurance; building
repeatable Visual Test Scripts; creating email templates and testing; backbone or Angular; Java;
Liferay and Design and Branding are desirable skills but not required.

 Under the direction of the Budget Director or designee, assists with the
preparation and administration of the annual operating budget as well as
the five-year Capital Improvement Plan. Evaluates line-item budget
requests for reasonableness and consistency, prepares budget
recommendations, and compiles the budget information into a format
suitable for the presentation of proposed budget to the County Board of
Commissioners.  Assists in the development and reporting of performance
measures and reporting on status of capital projects, benchmarking and
surveying, research of programs, special tasks, and projects as assigned.
 Conducts fiscal impact analysis, analyzes financial and statistical
data, prepares reports and makes recommendations.  Performs other duties

Minimum Qualifications
 *Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's

Administration SUPPLEMENTED WITH  two (2) years of full-time work
experience in budgeting with a local, state or federal governmental
entity; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Political Science or

AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is currently seeking an intern to assist in its Housing Assistance Department. The Housing Assistance Intern will work closely with AFC staff in keeping our Chicago Low- Income Housing Trust Fund clients housed. The intern will act as a liaison with the funder and landlords, assist landlords with contract renewal applications, quarterly payments, etc. The intern will work at the Chicago Low-Income Housing Trust Fund offices located in City Hall.
The internship’s goals include imparting on-the-job training and experience in working with People Living with HIV/AIDS and gain knowledge of the Chicago housing continuum and housing rights.
This is a paid internship. The intern will receive necessary training and staff supervision. We require a minimum of 15 hours/week and at least 1 year commitment.

The Northwest Municipal Conference (NWMC), a council of government representing forty-three municipalities and one township in the north and northwest suburbs, is seeking a motivated, responsible, energetic individual for the position of Program Associate for Transportation.
Description of Responsibilities
The Program Associate for Transportation coordinates transportation planning and programming activities on behalf of NWMC members, assists with project management on regional studies, provides assistance to members in preparing transportation grant applications for federal and state programs and acts as a liaison for members to various federal, state, county and regional transportation agencies. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Represent the needs of NWMC members to the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and other transportation and planning agencies.
Manage the Surface Transportation Program (STP) for the North Shore Council of Mayors, including oversight of project funding and implementation.
Monitor transportation programs including the Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Program (CMAQ), the Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and the Local Technical Assistance/Community Planning Program to ensure municipal access and understanding.
Assist with managing various NWMC led planning initiatives, such as the NWMC Bicycle Plan, including consultant hiring, plan development and implementation.
Disseminate information to NWMC membership via NWMC Transportation Newsletter, weekly briefings and other written and verbal means.
Prepare agendas and minutes for various committees and task forces.
Advance the NWMC Communications Plan via social media and other avenues. Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director, Deputy Director and
Transportation Director.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s or master's degree in urban planning, public administration or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
