President & CEO - Land of Lincoln Economic Development Committee (Springfield)

Who: Land of Lincoln Economic Development Committee. The goal of the EDC is to create a more vibrant, diverse, multi-generational community through economic development efforts that attract and retain a broader range of stable employment opportunities. This is accomplished through leveraging Sangamon County and the City of Springfield’s historical significance, strong education system and choices, state-of-the-art medical facilities, geographic location, low cost-of-living and broad human outreach initiatives. The Land of Lincoln Economic Development Committee (EDC) was created in Springfield and Sangamon County, Illinois, late in 2017 with the expectations that it will form a 501-c3, public-private, economic development corporation. After an in-depth analysis of the current economic development efforts, regional leaders saw the need to form an entity that is laser-focused on primary job creation and retention and economic growth for the region.

What: The President/CEO of the Economic Development Committee will be responsible for the recruitment of new industries/businesses to the Sangamon County Region and plays an important role on the committee in achieving overall goals and objectives. This position will report to a Board of Trustees and is responsible for implementing economic development initiatives in collaboration with local business leaders, state and local government officials, site selection consultants, and staff. Specific economic development responsibilities include those associated with entrepreneurship development, workforce development, business retention and expansion, business recruitment and marketing. Grants and Contracts Associate, UIC School of Public Health

Who: UIC School of Public Health, Office of Research Services

What: The Office of Research Services in the School of Public Health is seeking a Grants and Contracts Associate. This position implements the research priorities in the School of Public Health (SPH) in alignment with the College’s research strategic plan. The Grants and Contracts Associate provides expert guidance to SPH faculty, staff, and students in maximizing the competitiveness of multi-college, collaborative, and complex research proposals. This position customizes the support services for investigators, which includes crafting and editing content of components of a research proposal, coordinating all aspects of the proposal submission process, developing customized budgets based on the research strategy timelines, and serving as a resource for investigators on regulations in the protection of human research participants. Community Partnership Manager, Chicago Food Policy Action Council

Who: The Chicago Food Policy Action Council’s (CFPAC) mission is to facilitate the development and adoption of responsible policies to improve access for Chicago residents to culturally appropriate, nutritionally sound, and affordable food grown through environmentally sustainable practices.

What: The CFPAC Community Partnership Manager will support CFPAC’s priorities by working in coordination with CFPAC Board and staff members, local communities, organizations, vendors, suppliers, processors and producers as well as staff at City of Chicago Departments and Agencies, and national partners. The Community Partnership Manager will serve as a key coordinative and facilitative resource to members and participants in CFPAC’s existing and emerging networks. The position will provide primary coordination with an emerging Black- Brown group of food system community leaders. CFPAC is looking for a person with 7-10 years of experience facilitating, leading and developing networks and collaborations with deep experience, comfort and sensitivity for working in and partnering with diverse communities. The Senior Planner for Engagement supports all community engagement activities of the Department's long-range planning team. This position strives to promote meaningful engagement of all populations and stakeholders in planning processes, with an emphasis on populations traditionally under-represented in public processes. Planner-Long Range
The planner is responsible for providing general support to the Long-Range Planning Division of the Department of Metropolitan Development on Comprehensive Planning activities as well as other studies and initiatives. Community Development Administrative Assistant – The City of College Place (WA)

Business Services Analyst (Memphis)

What: The Business Services Analyst is responsible for the review, analysis, and evaluation of processes, systems, and user needs for projects and procedures associated with individual departments or the division; coordinate processes to ensure that the information systems support departmental business operational needs; serves as the first point of contact for coworkers and departmental liaisons regarding the use of designated information systems; gathers data to develop or contribute to the development of business plans and strategies; tracks performance of core business processes associated with individual departments or the division; assist the County IT staff in understanding the operational need for both automated and manual solutions to the business systems and procedures. Allard Fellowship – Metropolitan Planning Council (Chicago) (Deadline 2/19)

Who: The Metropolitan Planning Council is seeking applicants for a 6-month paid, part-time Allard Fellowship to support their water supply and effective governance efforts.

What: The Allard Fellowship, named for a beloved former MPC President, the late Jean Allard and generously seeded by Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal (now SNR Denton), is designed to attract a talented emerging professional not currently in a position to volunteer at MPC. This paid fellowship is targeted to candidates who reflect the economic and racial diversity of the Chicago region. The Fellow works directly with staff at all levels of the organization, external partners, Board members and other volunteers at MPC. A fellow works approximately 20-30 hours a week, for a six month period.

Data Analyst - Heartland Alliance (DEADLINE 2/15)

Who: Heartland Alliance - Social IMPACT Research Center. The Social IMPACT Research Center conducts applied research for nonprofits, foundations, advocacy groups, governments, coalitions, and the media to help them measure, inform, and grow their social impact. IMPACT also regularly reports on key poverty trends to equip decision makers with sound data to inform public policy.

What: The Data Analyst is responsible for working with quantitative and qualitative data in all capacities on a wide variety of IMPACT’s research projects. Individual accountability and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives, within the framework outlined below. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Community Planner - Muse Community + Design (Chicago)

Who: Muse Community + Design is hiring a Community Planner to support the overall implementation of the Chicago Department of Transportation’s traffic safety and education program, with a strong emphasis on bicycle and pedestrian safety.

What: The Community Planner will be a qualified individual with a degree in urban planning or equivalent field, and a strong command of Chicago’s Complete Streets and Vision Zero principles. The position will require regular interaction with CDOT and other city staff, elected officials, community organizations and residents.
This individual will play an instrumental role in outreach to partner organizations and communities throughout Chicago. The Community Planner will be responsible for coordination with stakeholders on the creation of community plans and continued engagement strategies. This individual is also responsible for organizing and facilitating the Mayor’s Bicycle Advisory Committee (MBAC) and Mayor’s Pedestrian Advisory Committee (MPAC) meetings. In addition, the Community Planner will support education and encouragement events on an as-needed basis.

Public Lands Transportation Fellowship - Western Transportation Institute (MSU-Bozeman)

Who: The Western Transportation Institute at Montana State University Bozeman. The Public Lands Transportation Fellows (PLTF) program, previously known as the scholars program, provides fellowships to outstanding masters and doctoral graduates in a transportation-related field. The fellows are provided with a unique opportunity for career development and public service working directly with staff of Federal Land Management Agencies (FLMAs) on key visitor transportation issues.

What: Fellows are assigned to work with staff at a unit or region/field office facing a transportation issue to facilitate a transportation planning or implementation project. The assigned projects help the land units develop transportation solutions that preserve valuable resources and enhance the visitor experience. It's a great match for anyone interested in public lands; working in transportation at the Federal level; or entering the transportation community of one of the cities below.  The program has four goals, which are to:

Health Justice Intern – The Praxis Project (Temporary, Full Time) (Oakland)

Who: The Praxis Project is a values-driven, national nonprofit organization that seeks to improve health justice through partnerships to build community power. Praxis believes strongly that organized communities are critical partners in the struggle to create healthy communities. Praxis works with over 200 diverse grassroots groups across the United States that influence local policy, mobilize communities, and strengthen programs and organizations to improve health justice. Praxis works in strong partnership to enable local efforts to build community power through training, technical assistance, and capacity building services, as well as comprehensive fiscal sponsorship. Our capacity-building programming is focused on partnerships that actively advance Praxis’ mission to build healthy communities by transforming the power relationships and structures that affect our lives. 

What: internships are designed to provide interns with a very real experience of health justice policy, public health training and capacity building, and field organizing. For candidates with extensive training and experience, this will be an opportunity to apply your skills to national projects impacting various communities; for candidates with less direct experience and training, this is an opportunity to learn the current national landscape of community-based organizing, people-centered training methodologies and grassroots campaign strategy, while exploring the fields of public health and communications. Staff Assistant - Office of U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (Chicago) DEADLINE 2/8

Originations Analyst- National Equity Fund, Inc. (Chicago or NY)

Who: National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), a leading non-profit syndicator of low-income housing tax credits.

What: Originations Analyst for Chicago or New York offices. The primary function of these positions is to provide analytical support to the originators on a regional team in the underwriting of low-income housing tax credit investments. The analyst will assist in evaluating the feasibility of investments including, evaluating the market, sponsor capacity, reviewing loan documents, and preparing projections; prepare engagement or commitment letters, assist with investment committee write-ups, investment proposal, closings, and evaluation of potential adjusters post-closing. In addition, candidate must be able to analyze project’s financing, development budget, construction schedule, operating expenses, debt service, market comparability and developer capacity; utilize and become proficient in NEF’s pricing and underwriting model. Gain a thorough understanding of tax laws related to the LIHTC and Historic Credits and become proficient in understanding secondary financing, including CDBG, HOME, AHP, and other local funds. Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of real estate underwriting and Section 42 requirements.

Research Associate II – UIC School of Public Health – 2 positions

Assistant Director for Academic Affairs – IL Board of Higher Education
