Policy Coordinator (AVP Business & Finance) - University of Illinois System - Urbana

Who: University of Illinois System Office

What: The University System Office seeks a Policy Coordinator to manage the CFO Policy Office by coordinating activities related to Office of the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) processes for establishing, developing, and implementing business and financial policies and procedures in support of overall University of Illinois System (System) and System Offices operations and services, and to ensure their alignment with applicable System and other governmental guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the CFO Policy Development Process. Under the direction of the supervisor, develop and prepare policies and procedures for administrative review/approval based upon analysis of information provided by functional units (e.g., process mapping, documentation, legal research, peer reviews, and other data) regarding their current and/or anticipated needs
  • Manage and lead the CFO Annual Policy Evaluation Process. Coordinate activities related to the review/analysis of existing policies and procedures to identify areas that require policy development/revisions and prepare recommendations for administrative review that serve to improve the overall effectiveness and productivity of CFO and System operations and services
  • Coordinate and manage activities related to the development of documentation and protocols to promote uniformity and consistency in implementing CFO policies and procedures including: establishing and overseeing policy database and repository - establishing and overseeing record retention and document revision control functions - and documenting processes and protocols for the policies and procedures functions.
  • Collaborate with other CFO officials/staff (e.g., university administrators, subject matters experts (SMEs), web designers, web developers, forms specialists, business analysts, training managers, communications specialists, and other persons) whose assigned areas of responsibility include supporting and facilitating functions related to the development and implementation of CFO policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison to university and departmental officials/staff and other internal/external constituencies to effectively address/resolve issues related to CFO business and financial policies and procedures, and ensure that questions and concerns receive appropriate, accurate, and timely responses.
  • Lead methodology discussions, and recommend changes, related to policy development standards and best practices, to adjust to changing organizational and customer needs
  • Pilot new concepts in policy development standards and best practices to adjust to organizational and customer needs.
  • Act as first responder to all customer questions and comments about CFO policies and procedures, refers questions/comments to SMEs when such expertise is needed - ensures that all customers receive a personal, accurate, and understandable response.
  • Represent the CFO policies and procedures function as a member of project teams, committees, and other departmental work groups.
  • Act as primary CFO and System trainer/instructor for classes/training sessions and content related business and financial policies and procedures.
  • Train others in same or similar roles.
  • May assist with capacity planning.

Qualifications:

Required:
  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management or a field related to position.
  2. Two (2) years of professional-level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, including one year at an administrative level.

 Preferred:

  1. Graduate-level coursework of at least four (4) credit hours in public policy development
  2. Two years of professional level experience developing/implementing business and financial policies and procedures acquired in a business or academic environment.
  3. Experience as a documentation specialist.
  4. Experience with web design, instructional design, and communications.
  5. Experience acquired working in a higher education institution, preferably the University of Illinois.
  6. Experience with project management.
  7. Experience with legal, academic, and other types of research.

  • Managerial skills to facilitate and support administrative functions that align with organizational objectives and goals.

State Government Relations Manager - Weedmaps

Who: Founded in 2008, Weedmaps is a leading technology and software infrastructure provider to the cannabis industry. What: The Director of Public Policy serves as part of the Community Impact leadership team, leading the organization's strategies to leverage policy change to end hunger. Who: United Nations NGO Committee on Social Development is a coalition of organizations dedicated to working towards people-centered social change and development through the United Nations. The division is home to the Social IMPACT Research Center , Heartland Alliance’s Policy & Advocacy team Heartland Alliance’s National Initiatives on Economic Opportunity.

What: The Director of Policy provides overall direction for the Policy & Advocacy (P&A) team and engages actively in social policy initiatives aligned with Heartland Alliance’s mission and vision. We specifically focus on issues related to poverty, employment and economic security, justice, safety, health care, human services, immigration, financial equity and housing/homelessness. At the state and local level, the team works to draft and advance legislative and administrative solutions across our areas of focus; produces information to inform decision-makers and advance our campaigns; and builds strategic alliances and coalitions to lift up an amplified voice to create systemic change. Policy Manger – Illinois Housing Development Authority

Who: Illinois Housing Development Authority

What: The Policy Manager will act as a point of contact between department heads, employees and stakeholders engaged in the development, maintenance and updating of departmental and Authority Policy and Procedures. This role will provide training support and guidance on Rapid Results projects at the Authority. Principal Analyst, Strategic Planning - Regional Transportation Authority (Chicago)

Policy Advisor, Social Resiliency Planning - NYC Office of the Mayor

Manager, Innovation & Public Policy - Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago

Who: Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago is a nationally recognized nonprofit housing, counseling, lending, and community development organization which has loaned and leveraged investment of more than $1.1 billion in Chicago’s neighborhoods since its founding in 1975. The mission of NHS is “to create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their neighborhoods.”

What: The Manager is responsible for positioning NHS as a community development leader in creating innovative and community responsive policies and programs, and building the political will for the funding and implementation of those programs. The individual will work closely with NHS management and neighborhood staff to research and identify emerging trends, issues and needs. The Manager is responsible for convening internal staff, external partners, and government officials around developing, implementing and funding new programs and strategies. Director of Policy – Audubon Great Lakes (Chicago)

Who: Audubon Great Lakes (AGL) is the regional arm of National Audubon Society, working across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin and the lead office for Audubon’s Great Lakes conservation strategy.

What: Reporting to AGL’s Executive Director, the Director of Policy is responsible for localizing national policy priorities, building state-based policy agendas, and collaborating with the Executive Director to elevate Audubon’s leadership in the region. This new position has been created to build political power to advance conservation policy to protect birds and the places they need across the region.
The Director of Policy is responsible for leading the policy efforts and overall governmental affairs functions for the five states managed by Audubon Great Lakes as well as leading conservation policy strategy across the Great Lakes Basin. As part of AGL’s senior leadership team, s/he will collaborate with the Executive Director and senior conservation policy, fundraising, and engagement leads at AGL and across National Audubon to develop a regional policy agenda to advance both state and federal priorities. The Director of Policy will collaborate closely with the Director of Engagement to successfully engage our bipartisan network and conservation partners for successful policy campaigns and conservation leadership.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled, experienced manager and a strategic thinker, and have a background in Great Lakes and water conservation, renewable energy, and/or climate change policy. Specific responsibilities include:
