JOB SUMMARY:

JOB DUTIES:
1.    Provides general administrative support for department staff, supporting all departmental programs.
2.    Answers incoming phone calls and provides routine information, or properly routes calls for appropriate resolution.  Assists walk-in customers with requests, questions, and complaints.  Enters customer service requests and provides general information on issues.
3.    Conducts basic research and data entry in village databases and software programs.  
4.    Assists the department by entering information and scanning documents such as inspection reports and contractor licenses into village databases.
5.    Receives, sorts, opens, dates, stamps, and distributes incoming mail; prepares and routes outgoing mail.
6.    Copies, sorts, and collates documents for assembly.
7.    Files documents as appropriate.
8.    Prepares routine correspondence and proofs for accuracy.  Types moderately difficult material that may require the exercise of judgment in processing information within a specified format.
9.    Serves as FOIA officer, directing requests to divisions within the department and other departments.  
10.    Performs other duties as assigned.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
2.    A minimum of six months of experience in general office work or customer service.
3.    Proficiency with current computer technology, job-specific software, and customer service systems.
 
STARTING SALARY RANGE:  $18.75 - $20.90  per hour working up to 19 hours per week.  Salary dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $18.75 - $27.34.  This position is represented by a union; you may refer to the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement available on our website.

The City of Chicago’s Department of Planning & Development is responsible for the economic development growth of the City and it’s neighborhoods. This work is largely done through the Department’s Bureau of Economic Development (“the Bureau”), whose mission is to create equitable economic growth throughout Chicago, by investing financial resources and support in people, businesses, and neighborhoods. To do that, the Bureau administers a variety of programs including Community Development Grants (CDG), Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF), Tax Increment Financing (TIF), and property tax abatements. In total, the City has used these programs to make approximately $1.7 billion in investments in Chicago’s neighborhoods over the past five years

 

The Assistant Commissioner of the Underwriting Group is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Bureau’s evaluation of projects requesting the use of City funds and the oversight of staff members primarily responsible for this work. This principally involves reviewing application materials, identifying community benefits and alignment with the Department’s overall goals, and conducting financial and feasibility analyses in order to make recommendations regarding the use of the City’s financial incentive resources. For recommend projects, the Assistant Commissioner also manages the internal review process, contract negotiations, legislative approvals, and the execution of the agreement. The Assistant Commissioner also works in close coordination with the Bureau’s Deputy Commissioner in order to assist and facilitate the operation of the City’s various incentive programs.

Land Bank Coordinator - South Suburban Land Bank and Development Authority

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The South Suburban Land Bank and Development Authority (SSLBDA or Land Bank) is entering an exciting new phase to scale up operations and staff capacity. In partnership with the Southland Development Authority (SDA), the Land Bank expects to maintain consistent redevelopment of vacant residential real estate while initiating nascent large-scale redevelopment and economic development to the benefit of residents and businesses in Chicago’s South Suburbs.

We are seeking a responsible, creative, and dependable professional with demonstrable knowledge and a history of accomplishment in urban planning, redevelopment, or community development. The Land Bank Coordinator will support real property reclamation projects, manage internal communications and the Land Bank’s web presence, assist in day-to-day operations and administration, and ultimately manage new projects as they are created.

Position Summary:

The Development Director will primarily focus on meeting MPC’s financial goals, forecasting future revenue, and building relationships with donors/funders. The candidate will come to MPC with established relationships with foundations, corporations, and experience with government grants. The candidate will lead prospect research and identify new revenue streams.
