GRADUATE RESEARCH HOURLY POSITION
AVAILABLE FOR FALL SEMESTER 2015
The Institute for Health Research and Policy at the
University of Illinois at Chicago has an immediate opening for a graduate
student with experience and/or training in urban planning and/or transportation
policy-related research to join a project examining and evaluating Complete
Streets policies in jurisdictions across the United States. Working in
conjunction with project investigators and other team members, the incumbent
for this position will be responsible for reviewing and coding Complete Streets
policies from a sample of over 700 communities located throughout the United
States. This is a short-term, hourly position that will commence in the fall
and will continue throughout the fall semester and possibly early spring
depending on the work progress and funding of the project (up to 20 hours/week).
Key Qualifications:
·
Successful completion of the first year of an
urban planning Master’s degree. A
bachelor’s degree will be considered with comparable degree and relevant
experience;
·
An interest in the built environment, physical
activity, and active transportation related issues;
·
Ability
to work 20 hours/week during normal business hours;
·
Experience/familiarity with Complete Streets
policies;
·
Research experience;
·
Exceptional
attention to detail;
·
Excellent organizational skills;
·
Ability to work independently and as part of a
team; and the
·
Ability to follow specific directions, but ask
for guidance as needed.
