General Overview: 


The Shared-Use Mobility Center (SUMC) is a non-profit public interest organization promoting multimodal transportation systems that work for all. Through pilot projects, research, capacity-building, and advocacy, SUMC helps communities realize a vision of an equitable and sustainable mobility future.


SUMC is expanding its research, convening, and technical assistance efforts through partnerships with the Federal Transit Administration, the State of California, and other public partners.  In particular, the Mobility Innovation Collaborative is a partnership with the Federal Transit Administration to support transit agencies, cities, and regions across the nation in adopting innovative, multimodal mobility solutions, encompassing mobility-on-demand, automation, new payment and data approaches, and improvements to transit access and information.

GIS Developer - Cook County Bureau of Technology

Who: Cook County Offices Under the President - Bureau of Technology

What: Under the direction of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager, the GIS Developer manages and designs the GIS enterprise as related to projects and application development. Assists with the design, development and maintenance of geospatial applications through concept, design, and implementation phases. Coordinates the control and maintenance of GIS enterprise operation tasks across various agencies within Cook County to ensure compatibility and integration with the enterprise strategic plan. Maintains and updates system documentation and ensures procedures are executed properly and in a timely manner. Consults with senior level staff and departmental managers as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.

Metro Strategies, Inc., a planning, policy and public affairs firm, is seeking a Project Associate who will assist with projects, research and writing. The Project Associate will be expected to provide assistance in the planning, organization and implementation of all Metro Strategies projects. The Project Associate must prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner. This person must be detail oriented, have the ability to “think-of-everything” and have strong communication skills. This position will support all staff at Metro Strategies both in the Glen Ellyn and Chicago offices

Key Duties:
  • Perform project support duties as assigned by project managers to advance client projects
  • Assist with preparation of project materials and presentations
  • Conduct research on various topics
  • Prepare articles, reports, project fact sheets and policy briefs
  • Assist with project/client website content and use of social media
  • Execute all areas related to event management
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
  • Excellent research and writing skills 
  • Working knowledge of public policy issues 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to juggle a variety of tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects efficiently
  • Ability to be flexible, well-organized and self-sufficient 
  • Strong planning, organization and implementation skills which allow the successful completion of projects by specific due dates 
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends when project needs dictate
  • Understanding of social media as a project communication tool
  • Experience updating websites or designing websites is a plus
  • Proficiency in a second language is preferred 
Education:
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, planning, communications or the equivalent. A master’s degree is preferred.
Salary Range:
$35,000 - $55,000

We are seeking a talented designer to provide exceptional graphics support for our Berkeley office. This multi-disciplinary position plays a vital role in assisting a diverse team of planners, urban designers, and landscape architects. In addition to traditional print graphic design, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide array of technology and media related projects, such as: web design and development, video content and animations, 3D modeling, visualizations, and map making, just to name a few.
We have a fast-paced office filled with employees that can multi-task on a wide-range of projects.  The position’s workload will vary. The ideal candidate will have the following:
Responsibilities:
¨  Create layouts of documents and materials of various types and sizes, ranging from postcards to 100-page magazine-style plans.
¨  Assist in developing outreach campaigns and branding concepts (logos, templates, and colors) for a range of planning projects.
¨  Assist in developing client websites using WordPress, with some HTML and CSS tinkering.
¨  Assist in creating outreach videos and animations.
¨  Assist in 3D modeling and rendering using SketchUp, and post-production work using Photoshop.
Skills and Abilities:
¨  Clearly understand the interplay between spacing, color, typography, and geometries.
¨  Expert knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, Word, and PowerPoint isrequired.
¨  Experience in WordPress and web development isrequired.
¨  Experience in SketchUp, 3D modeling, animations, and video content is highly desired.
¨  Familiarity with ArcGIS and map making is desired, but not required. 
Education and Experience:
¨  2 years of related experience performing the responsibilities listed above.
¨  Degree in Urban Studies, Graphic Design, or related field.
