An Associate Principal at Civic Consulting Alliance has the responsibility to work with public and private sector leaders across the region to understand the biggest challenges and determine the viability of change. Once identified, Associate Principals are responsible for leading projects, working with internal staff, public sector clients, and private sector partners. Associate Principals are also responsible for growing the long-term impact of Civic Consulting, consistent with CCA’s mission and values.
Associate Principals report jointly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Principals team.
Associate Principals have an opportunity to:
  • Lead high-impact projects for the city of Chicago, one of its Sister Agencies, the County and State, working side-by-side with Civic Consulting colleagues, senior executives in government and private sector leaders.
  • Partner with senior executives in city, county and state government to identify challenges and develop solutions across Education, Healthcare, Public Safety, and Economic Growth.
  • Work with the CEO and Principals to architect solutions and oversee implementation.
  • Manage partnerships with leading private sector firms and companies.
  • Coach colleagues, and at the same time receive mentoring from civic leaders across the region.
  • Serve on the Management Team of Civic Consulting Alliance 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: An experienced professional with a minimum of five years of business management experience. Experience with a strategic management consulting firm is preferred, but not required.
EDUCATION: A Master’s degree in business, public policy, public affairs or related field is preferred.

The Associate Principal is an executive-level management position for qualified professionals with 10 to 20 years of relevant work experience. In collaboration with Principals of the firm, the Associate Principal is responsible for the firm’s largest and most high profile projects, including projects that are highly complex and/or technically sophisticated. The Associate Principal must have an aptitude for development and mentoring of staff and potentially, the management of an office, group, or region. The person in this position will represent the firm at client meetings, hearings, and conferences. The Associate Principal should be comfortable critiquing the work of technical staff and subconsultants in a meaningful way. This person should be team oriented, highly motivated, and enjoyable to work with. The Associate Principal should be equally comfortable managing projects and working in a team, and either writing or reviewing sections of environmental documents. The Associate Principal is independently responsible for cultivating and maintaining client relationships. Client maintenance and the acquisition of new work is a requirement of the Associate Principal position.

We are looking to add senior urban design capacity to our New York team to support urban development and place-making, masterplan and waterfront planning projects and mobility and transportation analysis. We are looking for an urban designer with experience working on inter-disciplinary masterplanning and urban development projects. This individual will help to grow the NYC Cities group, develop and lead projects, support members of the team on additional projects, and liaise with the planners, economists and civil engineers throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate for this role will come from an urban design background and possess strong sustainable design credentials. We’re looking for a clear, confident communicator who is ready to further their career by inheriting more responsibility and expanding their technical, commercial and creative skills.  We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic senior Urban Designer to lead master planning and urban design aspects of development, who can also contribute to the business development efforts of the group. The individual will provide design leadership services to the group on a wide variety of projects primarily within the campus, open space, and urban redevelopment sectors. 
Qualifications:
  • Masters or higher in urban planning, urban design, architecture, or other related field
  • At least ten years of experience; including experience in planning and design in urban environments
  • Experience in delivering sustainable designs and providing sustainability advise (LEED AP etc) 
  • Experience with working closely with architects, planners and other professionals working in the field of urban development
  • Extensive experience in a comparable master planning role.

Key Responsibilities:
To lead and support various members of the team to deliver solutions in any or all of the following main areas:
