Managing Director, Urban Analytics at Center for Neighborhood Technology

Description
The Managing Director of Urban Analytics plays a pivotal role in leading and advancing analytical capabilities to drive informed decision-making in advocating for and creating equitable, sustainable, and resilient neighborhoods. This key leadership position will contribute to our mission by utilizing data-informed insights to influence strategic initiatives, policy advocacy, and community-driven programs.
The Urban Analytics team serves as CNT’s analytical arm, offering vital support to both CNT’s programs and mission-aligned partners. This position will lead a team of seasoned staff with diverse backgrounds in physics, public health, urban planning, environmental justice, computer science, and full stack web design. This team has led projects related to transportation equity, air quality and the development and maintenance of CNT’s acclaimed tools (i.e. H+T Index, AllTransit, ETOD tool, Urban Flooding Baseline, and the Green Values Calculator). The team’s core competencies and skills cover a wide range, including GIS and statistical analysis, data visualization, and user experience skills for creating effective web tools and print materials including the management and maintenance of the technical infrastructure needed to support our projects.

Capacity Building Analyst at Feeding America

The Capacity Building Analyst will leverage data to advance Feeding America’s capacity building services. Through working with internal Feeding America colleagues and food bank leaders across the country, this role will drive data-informed decision making to build sustainable capacity at food banks and improve food security for everyone struggling with hunger across America, especially communities most disproportionately impacted by food insecurity. The analyst will promote ease of access to and use of data through actionable analytic insights and visualizations for a variety of end users.

This position is based out of Feeding America’s Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day “work anywhere” program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.  

Salary Range: $78,000 to $83,000 Based on Experience

Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is currently seeking an Associate Director of Institutional Research. The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the university's institutional research activities including collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting information for strategic decision making. Serves as a subject matter expert in providing technical, analytical and research support to SNHU's University College, the unit supporting traditional-age undergraduates in a residential, on-campus experience. The Associate Director of Institutional Research reports to the Associate Vice President of Research & Planning and is a member of the Institutional Effectiveness Group in the Office of the Provost. This position will make recommendations that have substantial impacts to operating and capital budgets. This position will be available on or around June 1, 2015.
  • Design and implement ad-hoc and automated reports through SQL and other related programming languages through the use of querying tools
  • Maintain an interactive academic dashboard to provide essential key indicators to the university. Conceptualize and design further enhancements as determined by user needs
  • Process and manage the university’s data and reports via a scheduler tool in support of the Associate Vice President of Research & Planning
  • Develop and manage surveys concerning informational needs of various units while delivering comprehensive summary reports for multiple stakeholder audiences
  • Maintain automation of Course Evaluation summaries for different audiences
  • Design and support ancillary Microsoft Access databases and SharePoint sites to store unique data needs of various campus units
  • Maintain active engagement with different units on campus to foster effective collaboration. Work closely with appropriate college offices in research and statistical analysis that may be needed for various projects
  • Provide workshops and consulting service/training to faculty and staff about best practices to interpret data and understand reports for strategic and operational decision-making
  • Work with and train student interns
Job Requirements
  • A master’s degree in the social sciences, business, education, information technology, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a research, analytics, or related position
  • Experience with querying tools such as Cognos, Informer, Crystal Reports, SAS Web Intelligence, or Microsoft Query
  • Detailed knowledge of Excel formulas and pivot table functions
  • Conceptual understanding of relational databases
  • Ability to communicate complex results clearly – especially to nonspecialists – in written and graphical formats as well as through presentations
  • Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
