Supplier Diversity Coordinator – U of I (Urbana)

Who: The University of Illinois - Office of Business and Financial Services

What: A Supplier Diversity Coordinator to support the development, implementation, and coordinate aspects of the Supplier Diversity Program alongside of the Director of Procurement Diversity within the Office of Business and Financial Services to achieve the University's mission and vision for supplier diversity in procurement activities. Additional responsibilities include:

1. Develop, implement, and coordinate the growth of the Supplier Diversity programs. This Coordinator will help to define the vision and drive it to success.
2. Serve as a liaison between the University of Illinois, the diverse procurement community, external procurement agencies and other advocacy agencies.
3. Work collaboratively with the Director of Procurement Diversity to define and implement programs and processes to execute the supplier diversity strategy.
4. Develop and create formal documentation of supplier diversity policies and utilization procedures: Goal Setting/ Performance Monitoring / Tracking / Reporting and Compliance.
5. Develop and implement tools to track diverse supplier usage and outreach success.
6. Prepare and distribute all scheduled and ad-hoc reports for diverse supplier activity: Outreach / Utilization working closely with Director of Procurement Diversity to ensure appropriate metrics and measures are defined.
7. Develop internal supplier networking opportunities, including but not limited to workshop, webinars and symposiums.
8. Provide guidance to the University community towards consistently including diverse suppliers in the competitive and non-competitive bidding process.
9. Knowledgeable of government regulations and agency developments through ongoing education and seminars. Includes supporting trade shows and other outreach activities.
10. Support the Director of Procurement Diversity by identifying and assessing diverse suppliers.
11. Develop and implement programs which include but not limited to, the following: builds capacity for diverse firms, provide outreach opportunities, and assess diverse firms using diagnostic tools.
12. Process and analyze data and produce reports from such data.
13. Support the development of procurement strategies which increase the level of diversity spend.
14. Evaluate existing and future supplier agreements and incorporate terms and conditions that ensure diverse supplier participation on a subcontracting level.
15. Conduct supplier diversity and procurement training to leadership, staff, stakeholders and suppliers.
16. Manage supplier diversity event schedule, attendees and logistics for expos.
17. Document policies and procedures to manage program goals and metrics on an ongoing basis.
18. Responsible for additional duties as assigned by the Director of Procurement Diversity.
19. Other duties appropriate for a Supplier Diversity Coordinator.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in business, engineering or public administration with three years of business, management, purchasing or contracting experience in procurement focused on procurement diversity. Other requirements include:
 • experience with operational and financial issues relative to serving large institutions with a variety of sourcing mechanisms compared to their size and resource base;
 • experience in building relationships with senior leadership leading to behavioral change in procurement activity consistent with increasing supplier diversity and maintaining fiscal responsibility;
 • ability to develop and communicate a strategic vision of expected (or needed) supplier relationships for a large buying organization;
 • strong written and verbal skills in a multidisciplinary environment; demonstrated competency to be an effective presenter and public speaker to both internal and external constituencies; • superior project management skills and follow-through;
 • ability to analyze detailed data to identify opportunities for expanding procurement diversity;
 • working knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology and impact on procurement diversity;
 • effective integrator, collaborator, and promoter of and ability to influence internal clients towards diverse procurement usage within the University;
 • ability to prepare and manage a budget involving staff resources, outreach activities, special projects and collaborations with internal and external clients;
 • demonstrated competency in policy research, development, implementation and enforcement;
 • effective trainer and contributor to development of training and training materials to internal staff and external clients;
 • experience in developing strong and positive vendor relationships through outreach programs, collaborations, partnerships, and innovative initiatives;
 • and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
 • Master's degree in business, engineering or public administration preferred.
