Job Description: This position assists and supports aviation system and environmental planning; conducts planning research efforts, analyzes for approval of airport zoning activities, and facilitates communication between air and surface transportation systems, so that a safe, viable air transportation system is developed and promulgated.
Minimum Qualifications: The level of expertise required to perform this job can be achieved with approximately three (3) years of advanced professional transportation planning experience with regional and/or statewide scope (e.g. Planner Senior Transportation or equivalent). This experience would include:

-- Knowledge and application of principals and practices of transportation planning and related laws, rules and requirements.
-- Knowledge and application of math and statistics
--Computer skills, including knowledge and application of windows based operating systems, word processing,database management and geographic information systems.
--Ability to interpret reports, plans, profiles, cross-sections, maps and legal descriptions.
--Project management ability to manage and direct planning projects of statewide magnitude.
--Communication skills: written, oral, presentation and public speaking.

Preferred Qualifications: --Bachelor's degree in planning, aviation, engineering or related combination
--Experience with municipal and county planning/zoning legislation, regulations and processes
--American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), or similar professional certification
--Pilot License or experience with aircraft and flight theories.
--Knowledge of desktop publishing and webdesign software applications
--Knowledge of airport planning and programming processes
--Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of state, regional, and local units of government.
