Proud of its rich history and cultural diversity, the City of Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County, with a population of approximately 325,000. Located 33 miles southeast of Los Angeles, Santa Ana encompasses 27.2 square miles.
The Principal Planner supervises day-to-day operations of the current, advanced and counter sections of the Planning Division; supervises planning projects and studies; establishes employee performance standards; supervises, trains and evaluates assigned staff; and coordinates project management activities of professional planning staff. 
Requirements: A minimum of six years of progressively responsible professional experience in municipal or regional planning, or development administration, three years of which must have been in a supervisory role. Graduation from college with a degree in urban planning, public administration or a related field (master’s degree is preferred) may be used in combination with training and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.  Applicants must possess and retain a valid California Class “C” driver’s license.
