Job Description

PLANNER (Community Development): Beaufort County seeks a planner to perform a variety of professional level duties to include coordinating work on the review of development proposals and site, architectural, and landscaping plans; rezoning applications; community planning; drafting new ordinances/regulations; and related projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 
• A Master’s Degree in Planning or closely related field and one (1) year of experience in planning related services and programs
• OR a Bachelor’s degree in Planning or closely related field, and two (2) years of experience in planning related services and programs 
• Familiarity with form-based codes and the principles of new urbanism
• Design and drawing skills a plus
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including word processing, ArcView and/or ArcGIS, and presentation graphics programs as used by planners preferred
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

OPEN UNTIL FILLED
SALARY: $44,362 to $48,776 DOQ Annually 

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screen and background investigation. EOE
