PLANNER I or II, The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC) - Springfield, IL

PLANNER I or II (DOQ)
General Statement of Duties:
Performs studies or projects involving knowledge of the principles and practices of planning and an understanding of the physical, social and economic concepts underlying planning.
Essential Functions:
  •   Carries out planning studies related to regional transportation, land use, and
    environmental planning.
  •   Gathers and analyzes demographic data,
  •   Becomes a member of the overall Regional Planning Team.
  •   Makes presentations to the Commission, Commission committees, elected officials and the
    public.
  •   Facilitates citizen committees regarding planning projects.
  •   Develops relationships with other agencies, organizations and citizens through the
    planning process.
    Skills Required:
    •   Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing,
    •   Ability to analyze problems, identify consequences, and implement recommendations in
      support of goals,
    •   Ability to manage projects for thoroughness and completion in a timely manner.
      Minimum Qualifications:
    •   BS degree in planning or a related field, and one year of experience (Planner I), or two years of experience (Planner II),
    •   Knowledge of transportation planning as it relates to transit and paratransit services is desirable, but not required,
    •   Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is desirable, but not required.
      The work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning Program Manager. Evening
      meetings may be required.
      Salary Range – Planner I: $32,224 $48,337 Salary Range – Planner II: $37,765 $59,941
