Project Manager, Economic Development, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce - Brooklyn, NY

Project Manager, Economic Development


The Project Manager of Economic Development reports to the VP of Economic Development and will be charged with the Chamber's programming as it relates to Economic Development goals and initiatives. The position will provide support for the Chamber's Industrial and Manufacturing initiatives, including the I&M Coalition, and the Brooklyn-Made Certification Program. The position will also play a critical role in the Chamber's Workforce Development projects, specifically those targeting manufacturing firms. The position will also assist with the Chamber's Exporting Assistance and Procurement Assistance programs, as well as assist with grant proposals, and support the Economic Development department as needed.
Beyond this primary focus, the Project Manager is responsible for assignments from the President and CEO, and building Chamber membership and retention work.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Support the Industrial & Manufacturing Program including but not limited to technical support for small businesses, Brooklyn Made, the I&M Bulletin;
  • Support Good Help (Workforce Development Program) with the execution of WIN (Workforce Innovation Network for Manufacturers) through outreach to industrial businesses;
  • Help Coordinate Brooklyn Goes Global Exporting Assistance Program;
  • Produce Brooklyn Connects Procurement Assistance Program;
  • Assist with grant proposals, other Economic Development initiatives, and special events as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business, or other related field
  • Knowledge of NYC business landscape, especially pertaining to industrial and manufacturing sector
  • Previous experience providing technical assistance to small businesses
  • Strong written and verbal skills, with relevant computer skills
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Comfortable performing outreach to diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn
  • Ability to think creatively and "outside the box"
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team to achieve a common mission
  • Multilingual preferred but not required
