The Town of Vail is now recruiting a Planner to join our Community Development Department. Since its incorporation in 1966, Vail has earned the distinction as one of the leading mountain resort communities in North America. With more open space than any other community of its kind, free transit and other environmentally-sensitive services, plus an abundance of recreational, cultural and educational opportunities, Vail has become not only a great place to visit, but an even better place to live and work. With building valuations of nearly $220 million recorded by the town in 2014 and an increasing number of development review applications this is undoubtedly an exciting time to be part of the Town of Vail planning team.
We are looking for a self-motivated, dedicated individual with an exceptional work ethic who has demonstrated abilities in handling multiple projects and a heavy workload to join our high-performing team. The selected candidate shall be customer-service oriented and will primarily perform current planning duties in development review.
Specific responsibilities include: Responding to zoning and development questions; reviewing and analyzing development and architectural plans for compliance with all Town of Vail development standards and guidelines; providing professional counsel and expertise to applicants, the public, and decision-making boards; offering solutions to planning issues; writing technical reports, performing complex research, and making presentations to decision-making boards. The Town is seeking a Planner I, Planner II or Senior Planner (depending on qualifications) for this position.
