Director, City Planning
The City of Regina is a growing, diverse and vibrant community with a population of over 220,000 and a combined annual operating and capital budget of over $500 million.  As one of Saskatchewan’s strongest economic regions and most liveable cities, Regina is a dynamic center for organizations focusing on telecommunications, manufacturing, data management, software development, and other technological industries; agriculture and natural resources continue to play a strong part in the economy.
The Director, City Planning reports to the Executive Director, City Planning & Development and leads a broad portfolio comprising four Branches: Long Range Planning; Regional Planning; Neighbourhood Planning; and Infrastructure Planning, while managing an operating budget close to $7 million and a team of about 40 professionals.
As the Director, you will lead the implementation of the City of Regina’s new Official Community Plan with a focus on the Interim Phasing and Financing Plan component; and identify the current / future needs and growth requirements of the City.  You will direct the development of and implementation of comprehensive land use plans, tax incentive policies and programs to encourage housing and land use planning and development.  You will develop and maintain strong working relationships with Council, external stakeholders and business partners as well as the general public to facilitate effective involvement within respect to City building and regional planning.  You will also work closely with Council and senior staff to establish the regional planning agenda for the City and build strategic relationships with the City’s regional partner municipalities.  In addition, you will effectively engage the public to facilitate effective public input and involvement in policy development, program evaluation, and performance assessment.
You possess a thorough knowledge of planning principles, legislation, legal requirements and best practices within the planning discipline and you possess significant expertise with citizen engagement and in land use planning.  You are well known for your commitment to continuous improvement and delivering outstanding service to your customers.  Broad experience comprising municipal, public and private sectors would be an asset.
