Salary: Associate Planner, $62,541 - $89,698 Annually
Senior Planner, $70,762 - $106,106 Annually
The Town of Portola Valley has an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to join the Planning team. The Associate/Senior Planner is a single position that may be filled at either level.
The Associate/Senior Planner will serve as project manager for land use and development applications, prepare reports and recommendations, and perform various related professional planning duties.
Associate Planner is the journey level class which receives only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. This class reviews moderately complex development applications and researches and prepares technical and administrative reports. Understanding of land use planning regulations, CEQA, construction plans, maps, and specifications, and architectural and engineering drawings is required.
Senior Planner is the advanced journey level class. In addition to Associate Planner duties, this position assumes significant project management responsibilities and requires substantial independent judgment. Performs advanced professional planning work including highly complex planning projects and updates to long-range planning documents.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in land-use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture or a closely related field. A Master's degree and AICP certification is highly desirable.
- For the Associate Planner, a minimum of three years of increasingly responsible planning experience preferably with a public agency, or for the Senior Planner, five years of experience which must include two years of project management or supervisory experience.
- Considerable experience dealing with diverse public and private interests in the planning and development process.
- Possession of a valid Class C California driver license
