Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in in transportation planning, urban or regional planning or directly related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Experience: At least 4 years progressively responsible professional transportation planning experience principally at the municipal level.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Skills: Must have excellent analytic, writing and presentation skills and ability to produce credible, succinct, technically accurate and understandable quality written reports using MS Office products. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Understanding of and experience with transportation demand modeling and other software needed to assess multimodal travel levels, needs and performance necessary to successfully meet the requirements of this position. Capable working knowledge and experience in applying concepts and state of the practice techniques in multi-modal transportation planning and concept design for complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian systems and facilities and level of service analysis and transit system planning.

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of current principles, methodologies and practices of urban transportation planning; basic knowledge of public policy process. Possess a working knowledge of personal computers and GIS. General knowledge of concepts and approaches in street design, traffic analysis and various transportation analysis software packages, such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCM.

Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens, and the development community; organize and carry out higher-level planning assignments focused on mobility planning and analysis; ability to present work effectively in verbal, written, and graphic form; ability to manage projects and meet multiple deadlines under heavy workload conditions; ability to work with software related to the function of the job; and ability to pay close attention to detail. Position Description
  • The Kitchen Community is seeking a Project Coordinator to assist with site reviews, site design, construction activities, and maintenance tasks. Reporting to the Regional Project Manager, a primary responsibility is to serve as a liaison with the schools and their garden teams to ensure successful Learning Garden pre-build and Planting Day activities. The Project Coordinator visits sites and works with the schools and garden teams to develop and review effective garden team goals.
  • Primary Responsibilities
  •   Coordinate with TKC Operations Manager and Regional Project Manager in grading, targeting, and selecting recipient schools for Learning Garden grant applications.
  •   Work with Regional Project Manager to assist with Learning Garden site analysis and site selection.
  •   Proactively manage communications with schools regarding Learning Garden pre-build and build information.
  •   Assist with scheduling meetings, updating contact information, and tracking school information.
  •   Promptly respond to emails and inquiries.
  •   Communicate with district facilities personnel, school principal, and school facilities manager regarding garden site, scope, requirements, project timelines, and deliverables as needed.
  •   Meet school garden teams, review plans, and communicate as necessary. Determine team’s weaknesses and strengths. Relay this information to Regional Program Manager.
  •   Assist in developing project tasks and resource requirements, including site design tasks.
  •   Coordinate and execute project plan within scheduled project timelines.
  •   Coordinate with TKC Program team regarding applicants and installed Learning Garden schools.
  •   Coordinate the Installation Day with the Learning Garden Program Manager, school community, and garden team.

Required Qualifications
  •   Minimum education of bachelor degree in related field such as landscape architecture, construction management, urban planning, urban agriculture, environmental science, or environmental design.
  •   Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  •   Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills, and capacity to work with team, contractors, and clients.
  •   Ability to work independently, multi-task and coordinate several major activities at once, in a flexible manner.
  •   Proficient computer skills with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word. Adobe Suite knowledge a plus.

Bicycle Planner II/Senior
As a Bicycle Planner, you will develop and implement the City’s Bicycle Master Plan using the Five E's of Bicycle Planning (Engineering, Education, Encouragement, Enforcement, and Evaluation & Planning) to work towards making Colorado Springs a Gold-Level Bicycle Friendly City as designated by the League of American Bicyclists within the next five years. In this position, you will also serve as the senior technical resource on all Colorado Springs bicycle issues.
Typical Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage programs to increase bike-to-work mode share
  • Review development applications and plans to ensure bicycle infrastructure is adequately addressed
  • Improve and manage a bicycle parking program
  • Assist other organizations with development of a downtown-focused bike share system

Prepare and distribute periodic development reports including monthly Job Cost Reports to senior members of the team.
