Planner II: Plan Review - Metropolitan Nashville Planning Department

Who: Metropolitan Nashville Planning Department, Land Development and Design Division: Current Planning

Senior Planner - Metropolitan Council (St. Paul, MN)

Who: The Metropolitan Council is the regional government agency serving the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. We plan 30 years ahead for the future of the metropolitan area and provide regional transportation, wastewater, and housing services.

Our Community Development Division is responsible for the Council's regional growth strategy, planning and technical assistance to local communities, and parks and open space. This also includes the Metropolitan Housing and Redevelopment Authority (Metro HRA) and the Livable Communities Program.

What: The Senior Planner will be responsible for supporting the Community Development Department's responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the regional development guide (Thrive MSP 2040), and Regional Systems and Policy Plans, which includes review of local comprehensive plan amendments, environmental reviews, watershed district plans, housing reviews, and other planning types of reviews. Will serve as a sector representative providing planning technical assistance to Council members and local governments. What: Lightengale Group takes a team approach to completing quality work for our clients. Each team has a Project Coordinator and Project Manager and is supervised by the Partners. What: Lead Planner - Manages complex, controversial development projects throughout the city from conception to completion of construction. Provides advice to developers and the public. Utilizes expertise in review and analysis of development proposals, and formulates a professional recommendation to the City Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustment, City Council and other committees and neighborhood groups as needed. Manages special projects as assigned by management to address complex land use, urban design, transportation, economic and socio-cultural challenges. Manages long-term projects which often phases over many years or decades. Builds and nurtures relationships with the public, development community, and staff from other city departments and external agencies to facilitate the ongoing development and redevelopment of Kansas City. Utilizes advanced technical knowledge including but not limited to plan and subdivision review, technical and persuasive writing and presentation skills, ability to focus on details in the context of the bigger picture, ability to manage multiple overlapping deadlines, and extensive knowledge of key land use planning and urban design principles.
