Description: The Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology invites applications for a two year position as Lecturer in urban design.

The Department seeks a dynamic, creative, experienced teacher with a record as a practicing professional in urban design, architecture, or landscape architecture. The position requires teaching two to three courses per year, participating in departmental committees, and serving as an academic and thesis advisor to students enrolled in the Master of City Planning program. The person hired will teach urban design skills and methods in studio and workshop settings, and urban design theory and reflection on practice through seminars and lectures.

Minimum Qualifications: A graduate (master) professional degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, or related field is required; a PhD is desirable but not required. Minimum 3 years professional experience in design; prior teaching experience in professional development or at a graduate level; ability to teach in cross disciplinary and dynamic setting that supports both designers and planners.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a scholar of public administration to fill a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will be based in the Department of Political Science, and will be integral to the development of the University's new Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program.

The successful candidate will have a well-developed research agenda in the area of public administration and/or public policy, a record of peer-reviewed publications, and a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship. He/she will also demonstrate a strong commitment to public service education, an ability to work with a diverse student body, and capacity to teach courses in at least two of following areas: public administration, public budgeting and finance, public and non-profit management and leadership, and public policy analysis.

The MPA program is an interdisciplinary initiative of the University's College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FAHSS). The College has experienced transformative growth over the past four years, including the hiring of over 50 new faculty members, a 70% growth in funded research expenditures, and the addition of several new interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs. Beyond its core curriculum, the MPA program will offer specialized options in justice administration, public humanities and the arts, and human services. The program will begin admitting students and offering courses for Fall 2016, and will be fully operational for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The Department of Political Science features a growing and diverse body of faculty with research and teaching interests that cut across different geographical, methodological and thematic areas. The department has experienced significant enrollment growth in its undergraduate major (which includes specializations in American Politics, Political Communication, International Politics, and Law & Politics), and has played an integral role in the College's interdisciplinary graduate programs, including its PhD in Global Studies, Masters degree program in Peace and Conflict Studies, and the new MPA. Qualifications:BA degree in computer science, technology, design, engineering, or related field strongly preferred. Time Commitment:

Five to ten years of experience in local or regional planning, community or economic development, transportation, environmental or municipal management with leadership experience in similar agency/firm. Knowledge of comprehensive planning, traffic studies and planning, transit programs, state and federal funding, grants administration, environmental planning, homeland security, municipal operations, and data analysis including GIS.
Compensation & Application Process
The salary is negotiable.
