Assistant Director of Development - Openlands

Description

The Assistant Director of Development supports the Director of Development in leading and managing all aspects of fundraising to advance the mission of Openlands. This role includes supporting the Institutional Grants Manager with grant opportunity prospecting and follow-through from private foundations, corporate philanthropies, and government agencies.  The Assistant Director of Development will design and implement a planned giving program for the organization. Because communication is fundamental to this position, this person will lead the marketing and communication efforts of the Development function in partnership with the Director of Communications, expertly maintaining consistency with the Openlands brand guidelines and standard of excellence. The Assistant Director of Development is an emerging thought leader on the future of nonprofit fundraising with novel approaches and next-generation ideas.

Director of Data & Research Partnerships - Early Childhood Research Alliance of Chicago (EC-REACH)

Job Summary: 

The Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University is seeking a Director of  Data & Research Partnerships to join us as a founding team member of the Early Childhood Research Alliance for Chicago (EC-REACH). The mission of EC-REACH is to unite diverse partners across sectors, agencies, and institutions to co-construct and conduct action-oriented research that promotes equitable solutions for early childhood policy and practice in Chicago. EC-REACH will develop and support a community of research-practice partnerships (RPPs) among Chicago researchers, policy makers, practitioners, community members, and families. All are committed to working together on large scale, system-level problem solving.

As a key senior team member reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director will support EC-REACH's mission by ensuring that all research conducted and supported by EC-REACH is rigorous, responsive, equitable, collaborative, inclusive, meaningful, accessible, and useful for informing decision-making regarding early childhood systems, policies, and programs.

Specifically, the Director will shape and lead EC-REACH’s strategy for data partnerships and infrastructure, including forging stable, long-term, and mutually-beneficial partnerships with researchers, policymakers, and practitioners; building and overseeing a data management system and structure across multiple datasets; using data to answer partners’ pressing questions via rapid-response and longer-term research projects; and facilitating data access among internal and external researchers who seek to engage in a Chicago early childhood research-practice partnership.

The position is a two-year term appointment. Opportunity for renewal will be based on satisfactory performance and available funding.

Manager of Corporate Partnerships 
Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) seeks an experienced professional to expand corporate fundraising partnerships and individual giving.

In order for MPC to achieve its top priorities, MPC must continue to expand its operating budget. Which has grown substantially from $3.828 million in 2017. Historically, the organization’s funding has been comprised of 40% foundation, 40% corporate, and the remaining from individuals, investment income and the occasional modest public sector grant. MPC has expanded its resource base by 17% and 15% respectively over the last two years. In order to sustain this growth, MPC is adding a staff person dedicated to individual and corporate giving.

A successful candidate will be highly organized, personable, able to work collaboratively but also independently, adept at juggling multiple deadlines, able to be externally facing, and possess excellent written communication and project management skills. The position will report to the Vice President of Philanthropy and will work in close partnership with the Development Team and President.

Manager of Finance and Administration 

The Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) seeks an experienced professional to execute key financial and administrative responsibilities for the organization. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Strategy, the Manager of Finance and Administration will ensure smooth operation of the office, compliance with financial policies and accurate maintenance of financial and administrative records. MPC will consider both full-time and part-time candidates for this opening. 

The Manager of Finance and Administration is a new role at MPC. The successful candidate will be highly organized, personable, able to work collaboratively but also independently, adept at juggling multiple deadlines, and exhibit excellence in writing, financial and project management, and quantitative analysis.

Partnership Specialist - U.S. Census Bureau (Chicago / Work from Home - closes 10/30)

Who: U.S. Census Bureau

What: The Partnership Specialist is responsible for developing partnerships with state, local, and tribal governments; community-based organizations, faith-based groups; schools; media outlets; businesses; and other grassroots entities in communities within the regional office area. The Partnership Specialist also provides support to census field operations such as Recruitment, Be Counted, Questionnaire Assistance Centers, Non-Response Follow-Up, and others. The Partnership Specialist will work under the direct supervision of a Partnership Coordinator

The person selected for this position will:

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate the partnership agreements to ensure activities all levels are carried out, resolves problems encountered, and determines the need for renegotiation.
  • Addresses questions, concerns and issues related to current and potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Establish partnership agreements with federal, state local, and tribal governments, and/or local businesses and community groups to develop specific strategies to eliminate enumeration barriers in specific regions in support of the Decennial Census.
  • Develop presentations, give briefings, conduct meetings and promote partnerships with various governments, local businesses and community groups.

Strategic Planning/Networking
  • Create and implement a plan for job partner recruitment in Chicago with support from Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Remain informed of current events that affect the job market, non-profits or CPS schools.
  • Attend community, corporate and non-profit events that are relevant to Urban Alliance and/or provide valuable networking opportunities.
Jobsite Recruitment
  • Work with Executive Director to identify and secure new corporate partners for upcoming program year.
  • Follow-up on leads from Urban Alliance stakeholders (board members, staff, etc.).
  • Pitch Urban Alliance program to prospective partners and follow-up as needed.
  • Work with ED to provide all necessary information to new job partners and answer questions as they arise.
  • Provide Chicago Program staff with periodic updates on job numbers as well as an overview of each new jobsites' expectations, office culture and mentor dynamics to help with intern placement.
  • Support all jobsites and mentors until Program Coordinators have been identified.

Relationship Management/Jobsite Retention
  • Support Executive Director (ED) in managing relationships with current job partners.
  • Meet with partners to receive feedback and execute on relevant recommendations with support of Executive Director.
  • Plan and implement a year-round touch plan to cultivate high-level corporate contacts and big job partners (5 or more interns).
  • Plan and implement a year-round touch plan for mentors, including Mentor Happy Hour and additional trainings, with support of ED and program team.
  • Ensure that any newsworthy events or activities that happen with interns and job partners are shared with the UA Communications Manager in a timely manner to ensure that information is shared via social media and the UA website.
  • Reach out to all current partners each spring to secure renewals and follow-up with appropriate paperwork.
Data Management
  • Enter prospective and current job partner information in Salesforce.
  • Work with the Director of Data and Accountability and Evaluation Specialist to report on regional job partner data as needed.
  • Work with Program Director and Executive Director to review and identify program trends and provide to support to ensure that UA meets intern attendance and retention goals.
  • Work with ED to collect all paperwork (Job Partner Agreement and Mentor Questionnaire) from new and returning job partners.
Events
  • Support UA staff to ensure successful Fall Kick-Off, Public Speaking Challenge.
  • Ensure that high-level contacts are invited to relevant UA events.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience; demonstrated success in relationship management and partnership building
  • Excellent account management skills with the proven ability to develop and grow high-yield relationships.
  • Experience working with the corporate community and securing corporate sponsorships preferred.
  • Experience with strategic planning and increasing revenue for a program or organization preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Passion for and understanding of at-risk youth and a deep commitment to the mission of the organization
  • Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail.

Director of Finance + Administration

The Director of Finance + Administration will execute all aspects of day to day accounting processes as well as define the process and implement the infrastructure/systems needed to support EcoDistricts’ growth over the next five to 10 years. S/he will continue to build and manage effective and streamlined administrative/financial systems, including financial, accounting, legal, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and physical infrastructure. EcoDistricts is currently a $1.5 million org with 8 staff and is expected to double in size in the next 5 years. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Director will be involved in strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development initiatives, in addition to planning for EcoDistricts’ growth.

Director of Development + Partnerships

The Director of Development and Partnerships is responsible for creating and leading EcoDistricts’ development, partnerships and membership strategy with an emphasis on 1) creating robust development related infrastructure and 2) significantly growing and diversifying our revenue streams (from annual revenues of $1.5 million to $3 million over the next 5 years) with an emphasis on successfully managing contributed income, including but not limited to the membership campaign, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.
