Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Program Director for Dance and Social Impact. This role will focus on empowering college students and mobilizing aspiring students on middle and high school campuses through the transformative power of dance. The director will create programs and campaigns that leverage dance as a medium to raise awareness, inspire action, and unite communities for positive social change.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Leadership: Design and lead programs that incorporate dance as a means of expression and community mobilization, connecting participants with VoiceUp’s mission of social justice and positive change.

 

Culturally Diverse Performances: Plan and lead dance performances that showcase culturally diverse forms of dance, spanning different languages and ethnicities to highlight and celebrate global unity.

 

Social Impact Performances: Lead social impact and creative dance performances on college and university campuses, at after-school programs, and other community-based initiatives to inspire activism and foster community involvement.

 

Quarterly Community Events: Host quarterly dance performances that bring the community together around a common cause, using dance to foster unity and shared purpose.

 

Student Engagement: Mobilize college students and middle and high school students to participate in dance-based initiatives that inspire activism and foster community involvement.

 

Workshops and Events: Organize virtual and in-person workshops, dance performances, and events that highlight the role of dance in bringing attention to social justice causes and uniting communities.
 

Partnership Building: Collaborate with dance organizations, schools, community centers, and social justice groups to develop strategic partnerships.

 

Content Creation: Work with the VoiceUp team to create engaging digital content that showcases dance performances, stories, and initiatives to amplify awareness and action.

 

Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship to student leaders and aspiring dancers, guiding them on how to use their talents to drive meaningful social change.

 

Feedback and Evaluation: Implement systems to collect feedback from participants and evaluate the effectiveness of dance programs, making improvements as needed.
 

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a higher learning institution, including two-year or four-year colleges, universities, or trade schools.

Or recent alumni with very strong on campus real time connections.

Experience in dance education, choreography, or dance program leadership.

Strong understanding of social justice and community mobilization.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Creativity and a proactive approach to program development.

Program Director, Renewables and Other Power, Global Energy Monitor - Remote

 

Job Description

Position

Global Energy Monitor is seeking an experienced Program Director for our Renewables and Other Power Program. The Program Director provides strategic leadership and managerial oversight for the department, and reports directly to Global Energy Monitor’s Associate Director. The Renewables and Other Power team’s research program focuses on producing global facility-level datasets that reflect the current and future utility-scale solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal, bioenergy, and nuclear landscapes.

Location

GEM does not have a central office; instead, GEM works with employees to create suitable home offices catered to the needs of their role. Remote staff do not have to be based in the United States; however, preference will be given to those living in the United States. GEM can hire employees worldwide in countries where our PEO (Deel) operates, except in countries classified as Level 3 or 4 on the U.S. Department of State’s website.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leadership. The Program Director collaborates with GEM leadership to develop GEM’s strategy for their department, including making plans for existing programs and seeking out opportunities for extending GEM’s programs. As an organizational leader, the Program Director will encourage and support members of their team in their day-to-day jobs and career development and will seek ways to improve GEM as an attractive work environment. The Program Director will set an inclusive and positive tone, and will promote a respectful and professional work culture, paying particular attention to issues of race, culture, and gender. As an executive leader, the Program Director will set an example of decorum and integrity, displaying the qualities of openness, flexibility, diligence, dedication, efficiency, kindness, fairness, and community mindedness.
  • Staff Support and Management. The Program Director provides support and managerial oversight for members of their team, including coordinating training; meeting regularly to make sure their needs are being met; managing the development of project update schedules; managing communication systems within the team; managing the development of reports and briefings; coordinating data collection, analysis, and wiki editing; and communicating with the Executive Director, Associate Director and other program directors. The Program Director also holds regular meetings with their team.
  • Publications. The Program Director will coordinate the planning and scheduling of reports and briefings. Together with other key staff and the respective Project Managers, the Program Director will designate a team to manage the scoping, data collection, technical oversight and quality assurance, graphics, writing, editing, copyediting, translation, production, and promotion of each analysis.
  • Partnerships, outreach, and media. The Program Director will develop relationships with partner organizations and represent GEM in the media and in public forums; stay abreast of industry, NGO, media, and related governmental data and reports to assess current and emerging trends.
  • Administration. The Program Director collaborates with appropriate staff and/or departments to maintain and develop the program’s websites and social media accounts. In coordination with the Executive Director, the Associate Director, the Human Resources Manager, and the Operations and Finance Director, the Program Director executes miscellaneous administrative responsibilities as needed including maintaining and preparing employee records and organizational expense ledgers, preparing financial statements and budgets, preparing foundation reports, etc.
  • Technology and Data. The Program Director works in collaboration and consultation with the Data Director on the Program’s technology and data strategy, expertise, and resources.
  • Hiring. The Program Director collaborates with leadership and the Human Resources team, to develop job descriptions, and hire for open roles on their team.
  • Budgeting and Fundraising. The Program Director works with the leadership team and the Grants Manager in preparing project budgets and preparing foundation grant applications and narrative reports.
  • Communications and Accountability Systems. The Program Director plays the lead role in developing and managing systems and meetings that support and enhance the exchange of information among their department staff.

Required Qualifications

The following experience and skills are required for this position:

  • 5+ years of experience in energy and environmental research.
  • 2+ years of coordinating/managing/leading people, projects, or teams.
  • Demonstrated analytical experience in the energy sphere, including experience summarizing and presenting quantitative and qualitative data and managing large data sets.
  • Familiarity with international environmental campaigns.
  • Knowledge of the environmental and social impacts of energy and materials production and the global political economy of energy/materials generation and procurement.
  • Track record of working to advance social and environmental justice.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience networking and building working relationships with external stakeholders and experts, including working with media.

Pay and Benefits

This is a full-time, 36-hour-per-week, work-from-home position. The annual salary is $111,659.40 for locations in the United States (option to move to 40 hours per week at $124,066 in January 2025).  Locations outside of the US: GEM aims to offer comparable salaries, benefits, and leave to employees living outside of the US in line with our fully transparent compensation framework. The City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) supports artists and cultural organizations, invests in the creative economy, and expands access and participation in the arts throughout Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods. As a collaborative cultural presenter, arts funder, and advocate for creative workers, our programs and events serve Chicagoans and visitors of all ages and backgrounds, downtown and in diverse communities across our city — to strengthen and celebrate Chicago.

 

DCASE produces some of the city’s most iconic festivals, markets, events, and exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center, Millennium Park, and in communities across the city — serving a local and global audience of 25 million people. The Department offers cultural grants and resources, manages public art, supports TV and film production and other creative industries, and permits special events throughout Chicago.

 

Under direction, the Program Director – Cultural Affairs will serve as the Director of Institutional Giving and plan and implement strategies for contributed income raised annually via corporate, foundation, state, and federal grants as part of the Marketing and Development Division of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. In this capacity, the position performs the following:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • In collaboration with the Executive team and Deputy Commissioner, develop and implement strategic plans for securing corporate, foundation, state, and federal grants to support arts programming, special events, cultural resources, and other initiatives presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events
  • Manage and expand grant solicitation efforts by researching and identifying potential grant opportunities aligned with DCASE’s mission and goals; meet with department leadership including program directors to discuss financial needs
  • Oversee all grant writing including drafting narrative for applications and proposals; serve as the senior writer, editor, proofreader, reviewer, submitter, and tracker of applications
  • With support, manage grants calendar including all application deadlines and ensure that accurate and complex reporting is submitted on time and as required
  • Work closely with the Finance team to manage the intake of grant funding through the City of Chicago’s various mandated processes and monitor financial execution of grants for adherence to terms and conditions of the agreement
  • Supervise full-time and/or temporary staff
  • Participate in a variety of internal and external meetings involving a range of issues related to institutional giving and grants; attend events as necessary to promote DCASE programs and services
  • Prepare and provide internal activity reports of assigned projects and activities, ensuring objectives and standards are met
  • Assist with a variety of DCASE events, programs, and activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What: As a FEB Program Director, the incumbent will implement Federal initiatives and policies, while providing targeted training programs, employee development, shared resources, and local community outreach and participation.

Responsibilities:

General Summary:

9. Assist Director with the negotiation and execution of contracts with subcontractors and other program partners.
10. Develop, nurture, and maintain relationships with partners and referral agencies.
11. Initiate, develop and cultivate new relationships with community organizations, schools, employers and municipalities in an effort to expand the outreach and awareness of OCS’s services and programs.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Programmatic Evaluation and Reporting
1. Manage and participate in the continued evaluation and improvement of the assigned programs.
2. Responsible for overseeing compilation of enrollment, completion and placement data.
3. Responsible for drafting all reports required by grant funders for review by Director before submission.

Grant Writing/Research/Other
1. Seek out additional funding sources to support OCS programming and OAI-wide initiatives.
2. Assist in grant application research and writing, report completion and database updates as needed.
3. Participate in research and development of new training components to enhance OCS program
offerings.
4. Attend conferences and professional development sessions required by funding agencies and/or as
assigned or approved in advance by Director.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
2. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with underserved populations, independent contractors,
and other non-profit agencies.
3. Direct work experience or demonstrated awareness of skills required to work in varied industries and work environments.

BA degree preferred. Disciplined, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills; detailed oriented with

It currently houses the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship and related activities including providing tools and resources for the field, developing a framework for designing for health and social outcomes, and convening nationally on issues of design and social equity. 

The Program Director of the Rose Architectural Fellowship will be a strategic contributor to this growing team, managing all aspects of the fellowship from which other department initiatives stem. The Program Director will be responsible for the successful management and daily operation of the three-year fellowship program, including but not limited to host organization and fellow recruitment and selection, fellowship training curriculum and convenings (programming for retreats and orientations, bi-weekly calls, learning collaboratives, etc.), network building and mentoring of fellows, monitoring and reporting, speaking publicly about the fellowship and its achievements, and program marketing and communications. 

This position requires a unique blend of skills and capabilities. The incumbent must have solid communication, organizational, analytical, and administrative skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while also being a though-leader in the field with a strategic vision for the program and the ability implement improvements. Additionally, the ability to mentor the fellows and their hosts, championing success within complex relationships and projects, is essential for the overall success of the program.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage and is responsible for all facets of the Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellowship program: manage host organization and fellowship application processes; coordinate outreach on Fellowship opportunities including candidate recruitment, site visits, info sessions, applications, interviews, presentations, award processes and related materials; manage fellowship reporting; coordinate fellowship trainings, regular conference calls, and retreats. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to include Rose Fellows, leading architects, and developers to create tools and resources for Enterprise’s community design online platform.
  • Lead fundraising and grant writing efforts for the Design Initiatives department including developing proposals and completing progress and activity reports as required by funders.
  • Contribute intellectual leadership to expanding Enterprise’s Design Leadership Initiative. 
  • Apply for and present at conferences on program achievements and thought leadership in the fields of both design and development. 
  • Manage all aspects of program marketing and communications: in collaboration with Online Services team and Design Team Associate, update related websites with new materials, opportunities and information; keep blog and social media updated and current.
  • Provide a high degree of customer service and quick, courteous response to requests for information and assistance from internal and external customers.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field and at least six (6) years of experience, preferably managing complex programs for nonprofit or mission-driven organizations; graduate degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience
  • Interest, knowledge and/or experience in community architecture, green building and community planning
  • Architectural design skills are not required, but an interest and ability in growing the leadership capacity in community development and design is a necessity
  • Proven ability to foster and mentor young professionals 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and solve problems, prioritize conflicting demands, plan work effectively, follow-up and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Actively participates in team-oriented activities, builds relationships
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work occasional overtime and for national travel (approximately 12-15 trips per year)
