Advancement Manager, Boys and Girls Club of Chicago - Chicago, IL

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago (BGCC) seeks a proven fundraiser and leader to serve as the next Advancement Manager. The Advancement Manager leads the effort to engage current supporters, cultivate new supporters, increase financial investment in BGCC and build an increasingly strong and diverse network of stakeholders. With a primary focus on donor strategy, the Advancement Manager oversees planning, organization and implementation of BGCC fundraising initiatives including major events. Priorities include relationship-building and solicitation of major donors, management of fundraising boards and event planning. Coordinator - Donor Engagement, Lyric Opera of Chicago - Chicago, IL

 The Donor Engagement team executes direct-response appeals and communications to support the Fund for Lyric, specifically focusing on two key donor societies, the Friends of Lyric ($50-$4,999) and the Patrons of Lyric ($5,000-$24,999). The Coordinator is responsible for helping retain, grow, acquire, and reactivate contributed support by creating regular cultivation, retention, and stewardship communications, serving donors as a general inquiry contact point for donor engagement questions, and providing project management and administrative support for the Donor Engagement team.

 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Use the Prospect2 design platform and the project management tools Airtable and Ziflow to ensure that all Fund for Lyric email campaigns are executed in step with Lyric’s comprehensive communications plan.
  • Execute Lyric’s monthly renewal notice appeals in partnership with mail house vendor.
  • As part of the Donor Engagement team, carry out quarterly direct mail appeals with our mail house vendor, including data preparation, letter writing, and routing designs for approval; design quarterly social media appeals to accompany direct mail and email communications.
  • Oversee the Development department’s dress rehearsal and working rehearsal operations, including management of all related communication, staff involvement, and day-of coordination.
  • Steward Lyric’s Name a Seat program, ensuring that our database accurately reflects availability, and partner with vendors and Lyric staff to ensure plaques are installed promptly.
  • Pull and upload data for Lyric’s gift matching communications program, Double the Donation.
  • Partner with our external vendor in telefundraising efforts to acquire, retain, and grow our annual donor base.
  • Field donor inquiries as the primary email and phone contact for the Friends of Lyric donor society; work with Donor Records team to process phone and email gifts in a timely manner.
  • Execute routine stewardship communication efforts, including gratitude letters, greeting cards, daily phone calls, and donor impact reports.
  • Attend and assist with department events and donor experiences. This requires working outside of normal business hours. Advance notice is provided, when possible, for planning purposes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in arts management, marketing, or related field.
  • More than one year or one completed internship with a nonprofit organization.
  • Customer service experience interfacing with donors or customers, building relationships, handling inquiries, and problem-solving.
  • Interest in authentic interactions with donors and teammates.
  • Self-starter with strong project management and organizational competencies with a demonstrated aptitude for multitasking, attention to detail, and meeting overlapping deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Tessitura (preferred) or an equivalent CMS platform.
  • Interest in building relationships and partnerships with external vendors.
  • Personal passion for opera, musical theater, or classical music that can be shared in communicating with donors.
  • A positive, “can do” approach to work.

Senior Manager of Donor Relations, Marwen - Hybrid (Chicago, IL)

Founded in 1987, the no-cost studio and pathway programs exist for young people in Chicago who want to explore visual arts and do not have access to arts programming due to financial and systemic barriers. Overview of Position:

Marwen seeks a passionate and innovative fundraiser who believes in the power of young people, community, and the arts. The Senior Manager of Donor Relations is responsible for defining and executing a strategy to grow the major donor revenue streams and build a strong pipeline of future major individual donors. This position will build and manage a robust mid-level giving and major gifts program, while thoughtfully ensuring Marwen’s organizational values are centered in all fundraising programs. The Senior Manager will set cultivation strategies, as well as steward and solicit donors who can make gifts between $2.5k - $10k. The Senior Manager will prepare and monitor an annual contributed revenue (to annual fund and events) budget for mid-level major donors totaling $200,000. This position will lead donor outreach strategies for solicitation, stewardship, and renewals. Additionally, this position will support event planning as it aligns with their donors and the overall team needs.

Individual Giving

  • Build and manage a portfolio to generate new and increased revenue from mid-level donors
  • Leverage moves management strategies through high-touch engagement to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects to grow support across all levels of individual gifts
  • Create and achieve weekly action goals for donor outreach and 1-1 meetings to hit annual fundraising goals, and keep meeting notes updated in the donor database
  • Leverage fundraising data to inform appropriate prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship steps, particularly for high-priority prospects
  • Build robust prospect pipeline that also supports building portfolios for both the Director of Development and Executive Director
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving to steward new major donor prospects affiliated with institutional supporters
  • Track and report progress using specific metric and platforms

Stewardship & Event Fundraising

  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate new individuals who attend fundraising events
  • Collaboratively design and independently manage a holistic stewardship program for individual donors, including stewardship events, communications, and other engagement activities
  • Manage solicitation of sponsorship as it relates to individual donors within their portfolio
  • Work closely with the Communications Team in ensuring proper recognition of all individual donors at events, online, and in organizational materials

General Fundraising

  • Conceptualize messaging and materials for annual fund campaigns, monthly giving campaigns, and donor newsletter; collaborate with communications team on strategy and Development Coordinator on preparation and distribution
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and Senior Manager of Institutional Giving in the preparation of annual income and expense budgets and forecasts for fundraising activities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development to support the engagement and fundraising of the Associate Board
  • Attend Board of Directors and Donor Relations & Development Committee meetings as needed

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5-7 years experience in individual and/or major donor fundraising

The compensation for this position is $70-$80K annually commensurate with experience, generous PTO, full health benefits, and retirement plan match. This position has two work from home days per week.

What: The Engagement Manager (EM) reports to the Associate Director of Donor Engagement (ADoDE). S/he works on a variety of donor engagement activities in support of advancing the annual development plan and donor fundraising strategies for the Illinois Chapter.

Essential Functions

The Engagement Manager (EM) helps to create and execute an annual, comprehensive plan for Illinois donor engagement. S/he will work collaboratively with the development team to meet event, donor discovery, stewardship and engagement goals and metrics as set by the ADoDE. S/he will be responsible for: special event planning, execution, and follow up; creating donor collateral , presentations, cards and invitations, and e-blasts; maintaining the Engagement calendar; working with fundraising, marketing, and conservation staff to keep updated on conservation strategies and messaging; coordinating and distributing donor communications and marketing collateral; and keeping informed on both internal and external fundraising, events, and stewardship best practices in order to improve Illinois donor engagement. The EM uses the available fundraising management system to produce donor reports and lists, perform analysis and research, and track donor stewardship plans. S/he applies established processes and practices and creates new ones when needed to improve overall team effectiveness. The EM may have substantial contact with trustees, staff, donors, legal, financial professionals, and vendors. The EM will effectively communicate or distribute information to assist staff in making decisions, solving problems, and improving workflow. Development Associate/Grant Writer - Access Living of Metropolitan Chicago

What: The Development Associate - Grant Writer will be responsible for securing corporate/foundation gifts and in some instances government funding to build a sustainable source of corporate/foundation/government support. He/she will be involved in implementing a vital corporate/foundation relations program, which encompasses planning, research, cultivation, proposal development, solicitation and stewardship of foundation, corporate, and government funders.

Director of Development - Cure Violence Global (Chicago)

Who: Cure Violence Global (CVG) is a new start-up NGO, and led by Gary Slutkin, M.D., former head of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Intervention Development Unit, and Professor of Epidemiology and International Health at the University of Illinois / Chicago School of Public Health.
Cure Violence is a teaching, training, research and assessment organization focused on a health approach to violence prevention. The Cure Violence health model is used by more than 50 communities in the U.S., as well as countries ranging from El Salvador to South Africa to Syria.

What: The Director of Development will be responsible for collaborating with the Executive director, Chief Operating Officer and the Board of Directors to implement a strategic approach to securing private revenue from individuals, corporations, foundations and government entities to ensure the growth and sustainability of CVG.
The Director of Development will have the opportunity to build the fundraising function at CVG, participating directly in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts, as well as developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the ethical accounting and use of private revenues.
