JOB SUMMARY:


Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on his or her expertise in outdoor recreation planning and a chance to become an important component in a land resources team. The person filling this position will function as the Outdoor Recreation Planner for the Pacific Northwest Regional Office. Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.

- Provide technical assistance and training to the region for recreation planning, permitting, concessions and facilities.
- Collect, analyze and report tabular and spatial data necessary for recreational facility operation and maintenance.
- Participate in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) interdisciplinary team reviews, regional recreational coordinator meetings and lead PN region meetings.
- Collaborate on recreational issues with accessibility coordinator, property and realty staff and other affected programs.
- Serve as contracting officer/activity manager on recreational special projects, technical studies and Resource Management Plans (RMP).
- Provide expertise, oversight and leadership in the region’s recreation program.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given his/her the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the work of the position. This experience is typicallywithin this field or a field that is closely related.

For GS-11: 1 year specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least GS- 09 level in the Federal Service OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR L.L.M., if related to outdoor planning or a related field such as sociology, forestry, landscape architecture, economics, biological science, park administration, earth science, natural resource management and conservation, civil engineering, urban planning, or recreation.

Specialized experience at this level is defined as experience with writing and reviewing RPMs and associated NEPA documents, ability to work collaboratively with the regional recreation team, ability to identify program needs, maintain recreation partnerships, experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS), database asset management and writing/presenting of briefs, white papers and reports.
