POSITION DESCRIPTION
This full-time regular non-exempt entry level position reports to the Director of Marketing but also will take direction from other staff when working on their projects.
The Project Coordinator will attend most committee meetings and take minutes and help with agendas and meeting scheduling and setup. The Project Coordinator provides support for marketing programs (see description below) including the district website and other marketing programs and events. The Project Coordinator will also support the Director of Strategic Initiatives with special projects and public realm projects. The Project Coordinator will also support the Executive Director and the Services Manager with advocacy (researching local and statewide legislative updates) and services related projects. While work hours are typically 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required. This is an "at-will" position.
Marketing Support (50%): The Project Coordinator assists the Director of Marketing with day-to-day marketing tasks and will have the opportunity to execute special Marketing Projects as well. Duties include entering content into the USBID website content management system (CMS) such as events, blog posts, news and information about Union Square, helping with social media content, helping to distribute our Map & Guide to Union Square businesses and properties, organizing press clips, taking notes at meetings, possibly some light media outreach, helping with weekly e-newsletter, outreach to members, filing, photography, reporting and other marketing and administrative duties. This person will also assist with meeting preparations, copying of agendas, drafting minutes where appropriate.
Public Realm Improvements and Stakeholder Communications/Outreach (25%): Assist the Director of Strategic Initiatives with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating public realm initiatives and stakeholder engagement and outreach efforts, in addition to helping prepare the monthly "Square Affairs" newsletter, the annual member survey, and annual and mid-year reports. This person will assist with developing meeting agendas and minutes (where appropriate) and assisting the Director with tasks related to increasing the awareness of the USBID's vision, mission, programs, and services.
Services & Advocacy Projects and Board Support (25%): The Project Coordinator will assist the Executive Director or Services Manager with special projects related to clean and safe services or advocacy projects. This person will research and compile reports on local and statewide legislative updates and changes and provide to Executive Director. This person assists with posting meeting agendas, handling meeting logistics, compiling meeting packets, communicating with board and committee members, recording minutes and votes taken by the board of directors; posting documents; and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
Candidates considering applying for this position should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field marketing, political science, urban planning (recent college graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point)
- Experience with databases (SalesForce a plus).
- Experience with Adobe Suite or other graphic design software a big plus.
- Some experience with consumer marketing and/or relevant coursework
- Excellent written communication skills, including social media and website copy
- Experience with website management and social media
- Experience in administrative work including notes, filing, etc.
- Experience with non-profits or City agencies a plus
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Interest in Union Square, CBDs/BID's and the City
- Photography or graphic design experience a plus
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation for this full-time regular position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The USBID pays competitive wages.
