Senior Planner (Full-Time)

The City of Spruce Grove seeks a dynamic Senior Planner to lead and supervise the planning team in the Planning and Development Department. The Senior Planner is responsible for the day-to-day and long-term management of an active team of planners responsible for policy development, statutory plan management, and review of development proposals. The successful candidate will enjoy a fast-paced work environment that balances leadership and supervision with challenging projects requiring comprehensive experience in city planning.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise the planning team,
  • Review complex statutory plan, land use bylaw amendments, and development proposals,
  • Develop planning policies and procedures,
  • Review intermunicipal referrals and provide recommendations, and,
  • Produce original research and reports.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree in Planning or a related field,
  • Seven (7) years progressively responsible work in planning,
  • Eligible for full membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners; and,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through the ability to facilitate, network, research and analyze, and resolve issues,
  • Supervisory experience, MCIP certification, and experience working in a municipality are considered assets.
