Manager, Trail Development Northeast - Camden, NJ Water Front Location

Rail to Trails Conservancy, a national trails, walking and bicycling advocacy organization, is actively recruiting for a Manager, Trail Development Northeast Region for its Camden, New Jersey Office (Camden, New Jersey Water Front). This is a fantastic job opportunity for those with a strong background and interest in urban planning, natural resources, trail development, or sustainability.
Job Duties:implementing and assisting with strategic trail projects in the 10-state Northeast Region, with special emphasis on New Jersey and the Philadelphia region; responding to all rail-trail inquiries; assisting trails groups with maintenance, operation and management templates; researching, preparing and disseminating resource and best-management-practices materials; deploy and monitor trail user surveys and trail counters; assist regional and national staff in developing grants and contracts and securing grant and contract-based trail work; and other program-related duties as assigned , e.g., trail policy goals within the region
Qualifications: three years of hands-on trail-building technical experience; B.S./B.A. (graduated degree preferred) in environmental science and sustainability, stewardship, natural resource planning or management, urban planning, ecology or nonprofit management; experience as a trail project manager and builder; ability to work on complex assignments independently while using a high level of judgment, tact and initiative; outgoing, self-starter with excellent skills in building and maintaining collaborative and strategic relationships; organized and efficient, able to consistently deliver professional quality work on time and on budget. Desirable experience: designing and analyzing survey instruments; and proficiency in GIS.
