This position will direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the programs and activities of the Planning Division within the Economic Development Department;  coordinate assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and outside agencies; and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Community and Economic Development Director. Receives administrative direction from the Community and Economic Development Director. Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical and clerical staff.
Closing date: July 14, 2015 or receipt of first 100 applicationsSalary:$107,359.41 - $80,828.80. Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in professional municipal planning. Training/Education: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in professional municipal planning.
Highly Desirable:
  • Five years of management experience in city planning, preferably in municipal government;
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills to individuals, community groups, and elected/ appointed officials;
  • Eight years of planning experience, including development review and long-range planning;
  • Strong background in applying the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA);
  • Experience with Brownfield remediation;
  • Experience analyzing, negotiating and applying complex development agreements.
  • Experience directing and supervising technical and administrative staff.
