The School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, effective 1 July, 2015.
Through research, teaching and supervision, the successful candidate will join an engaged group of faculty in contributing to the School’s Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership – the only graduate program in Canada to focus specifically on preparing leaders and innovators to work in or with philanthropic and nonprofit organizations, now drawing a diverse mix of students from across the country and internationally. We seek candidates who are interested in building this field through both Canadian and comparative perspectives.
The School is a recognized centre of academic excellence in public policy and management. It is the largest and oldest school of its kind in Canada and is well known internationally, offering a PhD in Public Policy, MA in Public Administration, a joint MA in Sustainable Energy, the Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, as well as several Graduate Diplomas. The School’s multidisciplinary faculty members are engaged in diverse research and teaching initiatives, and are regularly called upon for their expertise by government departments, NGOs and international agencies. Candidates should have earned a PhD in management, business, public administration, philanthropy, or a relevant social science discipline by 1 July, 2015, or soon thereafter, and have demonstrated promise of excellence in research and teaching related to the philanthropic and nonprofit sector. Priority will be given to active research programs and teaching competencies related to the financing, financial management, strategic governance and management, and performance assessment of nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, foundations and other mission-driven organizations. A variety of methodological approaches are welcome and encouraged.
Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of research interest, a teaching portfolio with a statement of teaching philosophy and evidence of effectiveness, and one or more research papers or publications.
