The Kern County Personnel Department is accepting applications for Planner I/II.  
One immediate opening exists at the Kern County Planning and Community Development Department for an entry/journey level Planner responsible for performing a variety of professional duties in support of current and advanced land use planning.  Duties include: provide information and assistance to the general public and the development community on a daily basis; review and analyze land use proposals based upon established zoning and subdivision regulations and design standards; research and prepare professional staff reports; and make recommendations to elected and appointed officials. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are essential. Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
