Responsible for site inspections to ensure compliance with Land Development regulations.  Handle all complaints regarding reports of zoning code violations.  Conduct technical field inspections to determine the compliance status of residential, commercial and industrial buildings with zoning ordinances, condition of variances, special exceptions and other Conditional Use permits.  Interpret Land Development regulations in cooperation with other Planning staff.  Make recommendations to Planning staff for changes, modifications and new Land Development Regulations based on case reviews and field work.  Review case files with the City Attorney for prosecution.  Develop and present educational programs concerning Land Development Regulations.  Conduct on-site inspections and re-inspections.  Determine existence and type of code violations.  Recommend corrective actions in order to bring property into compliance. Inspect construction to ensure that any zoning conditions are being met including materials, colors and locations. Two year Associate’s degree or equivalent in Architecture, Planning, Building Sciences, Construction Management, or related field is required.  Over four years of experience in interpreting, enforcing, and administering codes and zoning ordinances.  Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings, surveys. Must be able to ensure that project requirements are being met in the field including design, building location, materials, setbacks and that permit conditions are being met. Valid SC driver’s license is required.
