Assistant Professor - Nonprofit Management
The Department of Public Administration, School of Public and Global Affairs at Northern Illinois University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor beginning fall 2018.  Faculty are expected to have an active research program, teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service activities.  The NASPAA accredited MPA program is ranked #6 in city management, #14 in public finance and budgeting, and #30 in public management administration by US News and World Report
This faculty member must be able to teach in the nonprofit specialization and select core MPA courses. They will also have the opportunity to teach undergraduate students in the Nonprofit and NGO Studies program, in theCenter for Nonprofit and NGO Studies, and doctoral students in the public and nonprofit leadership and development area.  The main NIU campus is located in DeKalb, Illinois, 60 miles west of Chicago. NIU enrolls approximately 20,000 students and instruction is offered in DeKalb, Hoffman Estates, and Naperville to serve metropolitan Chicago students. Minimum Qualifications
  • A PhD in Public Administration, Public Management, Public Affairs or related field by August 15, 2018from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Potential for a tenurable research record in nonprofit management such as volunteerism, philanthropy, nonprofit governance and leadership, inter-sectoral collaboration, nonprofit performance management, nonprofit financial management, nonprofit law, and public-private partnerships. 
  • Be able to teach in the Nonprofit Management specialization and select core MPA courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds is highly preferred
  • Experience engaging alumni, nonprofit leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization.

TAP, Inc. seeks an Executive Director to lead the company in the implementation of its mission, strategies and financial objectives. TAP is a private non-profit community design center incorporated in 1969 and operated by a board of directors.
As the nonprofit community design center for the Capital Region, TAP provides design, planning, graphic and technical services to nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations, and low-to-moderate income individuals who are seeking to improve their buildings, homes and neighborhoods. TAP works closely with the community and its clients to educate and advocate for the value of good design, planning and public policy; and works in collaboration with a variety of public and private agencies to promote livable communities and encourage community development efforts.
TAP began in 1969 as an experiment in community service to provide technical assistance by students and volunteers to those who needed it and could not afford it. We have expanded to become an integral part of the non-profit housing and urban planning infrastructure in the region. Now forty six years later, TAP remains unorthodox, passionate, idealistic and persistent ⎯ an effective ally to those in need.
We are looking for new leadership; a mature professional who will, while keeping the mission, spirit and uniqueness of TAP, Inc. in place, explore new possibilities of skills, scope and service area. The executive director will work with an eight person team (seven FTE’s) augmented by volunteers and interns as opportunity and workload allow. TAP, Inc. is governed by a seven person Board of Directors. The Executive Director is not a member of the Board. The annual operating budget is approximately $500,000. The executive director will have broad authority to identify mission-appropriate projects with a primary emphasis on improving the sustainability, livability, economy, artistic, and cultural opportunities in distressed urban neighborhoods. The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of public management on the Bloomington campus. Exceptional candidates at the associate or full professor rank will also be considered. The search is open to those who exhibit a variety of approaches to management, including the broader study of public institutions and organizations.We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching interests focus upon non-traditional governance structures, public innovation, environmental management, human capital and organizational behavior, managerial aspects of policymaking, and/or intergovernmental or cross-sector management.A comparative and/or international focus and professional experience in government or public affairs is desirable.

The School of Public Policy and Administration at Carleton University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, effective 1 July, 2015.

Through research, teaching and supervision, the successful candidate will join an engaged group of faculty in contributing to the School’s Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership – the only graduate program in Canada to focus specifically on preparing leaders and innovators to work in or with philanthropic and nonprofit organizations, now drawing a diverse mix of students from across the country and internationally. We seek candidates who are interested in building this field through both Canadian and comparative perspectives.

The School is a recognized centre of academic excellence in public policy and management. It is the largest and oldest school of its kind in Canada and is well known internationally, offering a PhD in Public Policy, MA in Public Administration, a joint MA in Sustainable Energy, the Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, as well as several Graduate Diplomas. The School’s multidisciplinary faculty members are engaged in diverse research and teaching initiatives, and are regularly called upon for their expertise by government departments, NGOs and international agencies.
