The City of Othello operates under the direction of the Mayor and seven Council Members who are elected by the citizens. The City has 38 FTE’s, a general fund budget of $4.9 million and a total budget of $18.6 million. City departments include: Finance, Public Works, Police, City Clerk, Building & Planning, IT, and Recreation.
Under direct supervision from the City Administrator, the Community Development Director performs supervisory and administrative duties, as well as administrative support and technical assistance, including current and long range planning services, zoning administration, and building code enforcement. The Community Development Director is a newly created position and the new director will be forming a new Community Development Department from the existing Building and Planning Departments.
A bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, or related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Three years of planning, public administration, civil engineering or related experience is required. Current certification and membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
