The University of Maryland School of Public Policy is a top-ranked school of public policy and management with a faculty of scholars and distinguished practitioners. In addition to its signature Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) degree (primarily for pre-career students) with robust specializations, the School also offers a Masters of Public Management degree (primarily for mid-career students). The PhD program was recently rated amongst the top ten nationally by the National Research Council. The Urban Studies Program (URST) at Trinity College announces a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level focused on Sustainable Urban Development, with a comparative global perspective. We particularly encourage applications from candidates with some range of the following preferred qualifications and expertise: sustainable urban development and environmental policy, international comparative urban environmental policy, urban environmental health and policy, sustainable urban design, sustainable urban transportation and infrastructure, global climate change’s impacts in urban development, urban sustainability and environmental justice, or intersections between social and environmental movements and urban sustainability dynamics. Interests in urban Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial statistics and data visualization applications to sustainable urban development will be considered, but are not required. The geographical regions of specialization are open, although primary research in regions other than North America is preferred; an international and comparative perspective on sustainable urban development and environmental policy is imperative.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in her/his specialty, including a basic course on sustainable urban development and a core course entitled, “From Hartford to World Cities.” URST is an interdisciplinary program, and thus we welcome applicants from a number of disciplines. Candidates should hold a PhD or have a completed PhD by the time of appointment in a relevant field such as urban planning, urban studies, environmental studies, public policy, geography, sociology, or anthropology. The teaching load is 2/2 for the first two years (and 3/2 thereafter) with a one-semester leave every fourth year.  The successful candidate will be housed in the Urban Studies Program.

Trinity College, located in Hartford, Connecticut, is a coeducational independent, nonsectarian liberal arts college with approximately 2,200 undergraduate students and 200 faculty members. The University of Illinois Springfield invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position within the Department of Public Administration. The Department of Public Administration, which is housed in the College of Public Affairs and Administration, offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA program with more than 200 students (on-campus and online), plays a significant role in teaching and serving on dissertation committees in the campus’s only doctoral program (a DPA program) and offers an undergraduate program in public administration. Qualifications for the position include an earned doctorate (Ph.D., DPA or related by the time of appointment in August 2018) in public administration, public policy, political science, or a related field. New Clinical Professor Appointment in Public Administration
The Department of Public Administration (DPA) in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) (http://www.uic.edu/cuppa/pa) plans to hire a new non-tenure-track faculty member at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level beginning in August 2016.

The public administration program offers two graduate degrees: the Master in Public Administration (MPA), which is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, and the Ph.D. The DPA also offers a new undergraduate degree (B.A.) in Public Policy. We also have a large and active program of international students.

The successful applicant’s primary duties will be teaching in the department’s undergraduate public policy program including courses in the policy process and policy analysis. A strong commitment to excellent teaching, especially at the undergraduate level and a commitment to curriculum and program development is expected.

Candidates with an earned PhD or who can demonstrate high likelihood of degree completion by August 2016 in public administration, political science, public policy, or a related field are preferred. Candidates with demonstrated expertise and the capacity to teach courses in public policy are preferred. In exceptional cases candidates without a PhD may be considered if they have sufficient relevant experience. Successful candidates will have teaching and service responsibilities equivalent to eight courses over two semesters.

The College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs (CAPPA) at The University of Texas at Arlington seeks a Chair at the rank of tenured full professor for the newly-created Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture (PALA). By integrating well-established programs of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, this new department will enable synergies between the two. The Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy is guided by an integrative research model that bridges basic policy-relevant scholarship, engaged policy research and the dynamics of race and ethnicity in a globalizing world.  The Director advances this mission by initiating, developing, coordinating, and conducting research designed to improve knowledge and understanding of historically underrepresented groups within the U.S., and through strategic oversight of the IRRPP budget, personnel and operations. The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs for operations and management, and to an Administrative Council of college deans, chaired by the UIC Provost, for policy direction.

The successful candidate will be able to teach in our graduate programs (the Master of Public Administration and Master of Nonprofit Management), as well as elective courses in your area of interest. You’ll note that our program emphasizes the importance of evidence-based decision making with rigorous coursework and practical field-based applications.  In addition to teaching in your area of interest, the preferred candidate will be able to teach two or more of the following courses: public management, nonprofit management, financial management, public budgeting, philanthropy (grant making), capstone applied research project, project management, fund raising, board governance, program evaluation, and strategic planning.

Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in public policy, public administration, business, economics, political science, or a closely related field. Candidates must have strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills. UVA School of Architecture seeks accomplished designers and educators who will make a significant contribution to innovative teaching and creative research in the Department of Architecture. The School invites applications for one full time position as: Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track), Associate Professor (Tenure Track or Tenured) or Full Professor (Tenured). It is expected that the Full Professor (Tenured) will assume the position of Department of Architecture Chair upon conclusion of the current Chair's term. This position is expected to begin 8/25/15, rank dependent on previous experience and expertise. 

The Architecture Department is committed to advancing knowledge in the processes leading to the practice of Architecture through design pedagogies that encompass four areas of research: 

-The exploration of innovation in design processes and practices throughout the public realm. 
-The interdependence of cultural forces and ecological processes in the biophysical world. 
-The relationship between architectural form and material behaviors. 
-The implications of emerging technologies for the design of structures, sites and systems. 

We seek exceptional designers with a practice explicitly connected to a design research agenda to teach: design studios, required lecture courses in the core curriculum, and elective seminars in the candidate's area of expertise. It is expected that each member of the faculty lead dialogue in their field of expertise, with the potential to direct programs and assume positions of leadership in the department. Beyond excellence in design, we seek individuals with a high level of discourse based on explorations in material research, innovative representation and fabrication, structural concepts, sustainable design and/or large-scale integration of programs and sites. Candidates should be both radically grounded in visceral practices while easily involved in the currencies of conceptual discourse. 

Qualifications: Terminal professional degree required; professional license and/or Ph.D. preferred, but not required. Evidence of prior studio teaching experience is highly recommended.
