Part-time Program Manager, Launch U - Chicago, IL


LAUNCH U (www.launchu.org) is college prep mentoring program that helps underserved but highly motivated scholars through the college application process and in preparation for college life and beyond. Launch U accomplishes our mission by engaging young professionals in our network with high-impact mentor opportunities working directly with high school scholars to help them with all aspects of preparing for college. At the core of our program is providing each scholar with an individual mentor to work with and guide him or her through the entire college application and selection process.

Launch U is seeking a part-time program manager to join the organization and oversee
Duties and Responsibilities:
  •   In conjunction with Launch U’s Executive Director, manage and coordinate all facets of college prep program
  •   Assist mentor and scholar pairs to meet and exceed their expectations within the program parameters
  •   Monitor scholar progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities
  •   Help to determine innovative strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement actions
    plans, and evaluate the process and results
  •   Lead and facilitate on-site sessions hosted at Launch U’s office on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings (up to
    twice a month)
    Requirements:
  •   Demonstrated passion for and experience working with adolescent youth in an educational/mentoring capacity
  •   A minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  •   Current position working in the educational/non-profit sector and/or pursuit of graduate degree in field is a strong plus
  •   Some prior experience with program management and/or curriculum development
  •   Strong leadership, strategic thinking, initiative, problem solving skills and creative ability
  •   Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
  •   Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an outgoing personality
  •   Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel and PowerPoint) and Data Analysis

    Compensation:
    Compensation includes a competitive stipend commensurate with skills and experience, along with an incentive bonus based on performance. Potential advancement opportunities, including a full time position as Launch U expands in 2015, is also a possibility based on performance.
