The City of Sacramento is opening a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity for an aggressive economic development professional to make an indelible imprint on the future of a great city. Sacramento is in the midst of a dynamic transition that is resetting its economic position and cultural identity in the nation and around the globe. At the forefront of this transition will be a dynamic leader of Sacramento’s multifaceted economic development efforts.
Reporting to the City Manager, the Director of Economic Development directs and coordinates revitalization activities aimed at the long-term economic success of Sacramento and the enhancement of the City’s overall economic health; evaluates and assesses the local and regional economy and economic trends; develops programs to attract new businesses to the City and to retain and expand existing businesses; implements an economic development strategy; evaluates City real estate opportunities; and provides highly-responsible assistance to the City Manager. The Economic Development Department has an operating budget of $3.2 million and employs eleven professional staff.
The Director has extensive contact with public officials, business leaders, developers, organizations and individuals, both public and private concerning the economic development work and goals of the City and serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.
