Our work has led to meaningful transformation of bicycle facilities in the Boston area during the past five years, and the outlook appears bright for continued improvement and the buildout of more comfortable riding conditions along desired urban routes.
Our work has contributed to:
  • Passage of a truck sideguards ordinance in Boston in 2014
  • Grounding of the Casey overpass in Forest Hills
  • A plan for protected bike lanes on Beacon Street in Somerville
  • Protected bike lane plan approved with protected intersections on Commonwealth Ave.
  • Protected bike lane plan for Gateway East (Route 9) in Brookline Village
  • Bike to Market bike repair education program (over 5,000 bikes repaired!)

Advocacy
  • Work with staff, board members, community partners and an active membership to implement our Bikeways for Everybody campaign and other campaigns and programs to achieve the 5-year strategic vision for the organization, which includes 25 additional miles of protected bikeways built in our area and another 50 miles approved.
Fundraising
  • Provide strategy and oversight to achieve balanced and sustainable revenue growth for the organization.
  • Provide stewardship of existing donors.
  • Cultivate new donors with focus on major-donor and corporate-donor/sponsor development.
Strategic Planning
  • Perform an assessment of our progress on the strategic plan and set long-term priorities for our infrastructure and policy initiatives.
  • Serve as the face of the organization for advocacy, coalition-building, and communications related activities.
Management
  • Guide the board and key committees in policy formulation and interpretation.
  • Cultivate and empower leaders across the organization.
  • Mobilize staff and volunteers for action.
  • Assure that the nonprofit meets all legal requirements, including any federal, state or local tax and/or document filing issues.
