The Kentucky Center for Economic Policy (KyPolicy) seeks to hire a Research Analyst to address Worker Justice issues. The research analyst will conduct analysis of worker justice issues and collaborate with unions and community partners to build power and advance economic justice in Kentucky.  

The position will carry out research to support organizing and advocacy efforts aimed at empowering workers and improving job quality. The analyst will conduct data analysis and author reports, briefs and other products that clearly and compellingly describe issues and conditions. They will also support organizing and issue campaigns through communications, coalition building and outreach. This is an excellent opportunity and challenge for an outgoing candidate with community outreach and planning experience to work on their feet to build park stewardship throughout Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This is a grant funded position to build stewardship in Greenpoint parks and playgrounds with the Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (OSA). OSA's mission is to maintain, activate, enhance and expand the parks and public spaces of North Brooklyn, in partnership with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation (NYC Parks). This position is funded through the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund, a joint program of the New York State Office of the Attorney General and Department of Environmental Conservation. The GCEF program is a $19.5 million grant program created by the State of New York with monies obtained through a settlement with ExxonMobil over its Greenpoint oil spill.

Purpose of Position:
OSA is seeking a highly organized and energetic Project Coordinator to carry out the Greenpoint Community Parks Stewardship Project. Through volunteer programming, community engagement and education programming, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for creating a sustainable Parks Stewardship program in five parks and playgrounds in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The Project Coordinator will be a vital resource for the McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance, McGolrick Park's existing community group, and will work to foster the creation of other steward groups throughout the neighborhood. Through active recruitment and outreach, the Project Coordinator will help to build and support local park steward groups while helping to inform community members of upcoming Park events, closures, and other projects. The Project Coordinator will be expected to create sustainable volunteer programs in place to allow regular community events to continue beyond the term of the grant.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the existing park friends group in Greenpoint: McGolrick Park Neighbors Association (MPNA) and facilitate MPNA's continued development
  • Work with MPNA to help build their volunteer base with active neighborhood recruitment, identifying needs and systems to ensure long-term growth
  • Help MPNA with the development and execution of their events - including obtaining permits, coordinating with the Parks Department, publicizing events, and following up with new attendees
  • Use MPNA as a model in developing similar organizations throughout Greenpoint
  • Conduct significant outreach to the Greenpoint community, working with existing community groups and organizations to determine areas with greatest need for attention
  • Develop volunteer event calendar and youth education curriculum and programs for summer season events
  • Seek opportunities for creating new parks friends groups, providing training, outreach, and support
  • Promote community programming and encourage park stewardship throughout the neighborhood, utilizing local partnerships, social media and creative campaigning
  • Engage neighborhood partners to support the work of park friends groups and explore potential new projects and activities in Greenpoint parks
  • Build strong partnerships with the staff at NYC Parks Department and Partnership for Parks
  • Create ongoing, regular events, and build outreach infrastructure to ensure volunteer growth after the grant period
  • Coordinate social media efforts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Meet programmatic benchmarks and track progress for grant reporting

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking to hire one full-time employee to help advance the agency’s engagement with state and local elected officials and contribute to the agency’s legislative tracking and reporting activities. The position will be filled at the Associate level. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is the region’s official comprehensive planning organization. Its GO TO 2040 plan is helping the seven counties and 284 communities of northeastern Illinois to implement strategies that address transportation, housing, economic development, open space, the environment, and other quality-of-life issues. 

Position Description The ideal candidate for this position will be able to monitor state legislative activity and communicate about the implementation of GO TO 2040 and development of the next longrange plan with a wide variety of audiences. The government relations associate will understand the agency’s policies and principles related to transportation, land use, tax policy, economic development, housing, the environment, and other quality-of-life issues. Applying knowledge of CMAP’s core policy principles, the associate will track state legislation and activity and develop related reports. 

The government relations associate will serve as a liaison to state and local elected officials and other agency stakeholders. This position will require communication with a variety of elected officials and partners at public venues and in individual meetings. The position may also be asked to contribute to other CMAP activities, including but not limited to the development of the region’s next long-range comprehensive plan, due in October 2018. Other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor. 

This position requires travel throughout the region and state, including some evening, weekend, and multi-day travel; candidate must have the ability and willingness to work with communities across the region. 

Responsibilities Essential functions of this position are to:
 • Manage and support CMAP’s legislative tracking and legislative review processes.
 • Possess working knowledge of the Illinois General Assembly legislative procedures. 
 • Author memos and develop reports detailing legislative activity.
 • Represent the agency and communicate CMAP’s policies, processes, and programs.

Position Description: The Policy Advisor reports to both the State Treasurer and the Deputy State Treasurer. The advisor is responsible for researching policy issues, planning varied and complex fiscal studies, analyzing data, evaluating options and recommending alternatives to meet internal agency goals and objectives. In addition, the advisor provides analytical support for and acts on behalf of the agency in the development and communication of policy recommendations to numerous external audiences, including committees, councils, boards and task forces on which the State Treasurer serves. In both cases, the Policy Advisor’s work centers on analyzing complex issues, developing and evaluating solutions to problems, deciding on a course of action, and making recommendations regarding implementation.

Job Duties:

· Perform short-and long-term analysis of program areas, document findings of relevant studies, and make recommendations for and assist in the implementation of new techniques or procedures to improve methods of operations, strengthen controls, and effectively utilize resources
