What: MPC is hiring a full-time Director of Research responsible for the oversight, execution and growth of all of the organization’s research activities. The Director of Research provides cross-organizational leadership to enable MPC to create a more equitable, sustainable and prosperous region.
MPC is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in public policy research. Strong writing, external relationship-building, project management, analytical and policy development skills are required. The ability to work in teams and lead others is essential. The Director of Research contributes to the development of organization-wide research strategies and ensures that all research activities are advancing the goals within MPC’s annual workplan. What: The Policy Advisor is a key member of the Infrastructure and Energy Team and reports to the Assistant Director for Infrastructure. This position will support the management and implementation of policies and programs that enhance the resiliency of energy supply to New York City (NYC) and facilitate the deployment of resilient and sustainable distributed generation and community energy solutions in NYC.
Specifically, this role will advise on how NYC distributed generation programs, initiatives and policies can maximize potential co-benefits across resiliency, sustainability and economic development, including the role of district energy, CHP, microgrids and other innovative technologies, across generation, distributing and software (e.g., enabling platforms).

The Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member in Management to begin in fall 2016. We expect to hire at the rank of Assistant Professor, but have the ability to hire at the associate level. Applicants should have a strong interest in research on management and/or organizations in arenas that create social impact. These may include public or nonprofit agencies, hybrid, quasi- governmental, and philanthropic institutions, as well as networks and partnerships where the public, private and nonprofit sectors intersect. We are particularly interested in candidates with an established research record. Applicants should be interested in teaching graduate management courses, particularly in the areas of strategic management, organizational behavior, performance measurement and management, or policy implementation. Applicants must have or expect to receive a PhD in a field related to management and organizations before taking up this position.

NYU Wagner emphasizes the study of organizations and management and their intersection with public policy at the local, regional, national, and international levels. Current full-time Management faculty have diverse intellectual backgrounds, including organizational behavior, organization studies, sociology, political science, health management, and public and nonprofit management. Definition:  Under the direction of the Planning Director, the Associate Planner performs journey-level current and advanced planning activities.  Assists in development and implementation of planning policies and programs, prepares planning studies and reports, answers inquiries on planning, zoning, and permit processing, and assists with management of the department. 
Examples of Duties: Under general supervision, performs professional, mid- level work in all planning fields.  Reviews, implements and participates in the design of various housing and community development programs and projects.  Coordinates and evaluates development proposals and various permit applications.  Confers with and advises architects, builders, attorneys, engineers, and the general public regarding City development policies and standards.  Conducts advanced planning work such as General Plan updates, ordinance preparation, and analysis of Specific Plans.  Also performs environmental analysis on development projects.  Performs related duties as required.
Essential Job Functions: Prepares and supervises the preparation of complex planning reports, requiring clear oral communication, hand and finger dexterity, and reading eyesight.  Gives oral presentations to the Planning Commission, City Council, professional groups, civic groups, and other public agencies.  Assists in the preparation of maps and other visual aides either by creating or modifying digital map files using GIS software, and by manipulating drafting equipment, such as scales, pens, pencils, and erasers.  Requires good vision and the ability to perform precise physical manipulation of oversized plans and the ability to lift 50 pounds; performs field surveys to identify site problems prior to development, requiring unaided ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, walking on uneven surfaces, squatting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and climbing.  Appears and speaks before audiences regarding technical and complex matters, which requires clear, understandable speaking skills.  Must have physical ability to operate a computer keyboard and other standard office equipment; must be able to open and close file cabinets up to five feet in height, and to remove, reorganize, and replace files therein.
Qualifications:  Education and Experience:  A minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience, including significant experience processing planning development projects in a municipal or county planning department, and a degree from an accredited college or university with major work in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, geography, or related field.  The City is poised for significant growth, so experience dealing with growth and large developments is highly desirable.  A Master’s Degree is desirable and may be substituted for one year of work experience. Spanish speaking ability or experience in a culturally diverse community is highly desirable.  AICP certification is also highly desirable.
Knowledge of:  Principles and practices of urban planning; State planning law; CEQA; municipal code provisions; progressive planning principles; standard operating policies; site planning and architectural review; general building and engineering practices; and procedures common to Planning Departments. 
Ability to:  Systematically compile and analyze technical and statistical information and to prepare technical reports; communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; perform complex professional planning work with a minimum of supervision; establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials and the general public; and train and guide less experienced professional planning staff.
License:  Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California drivers license.

Job Description: As Mn/DOT?s bicycle and pedestrian supervisor, this position is responsible for supervising staff in the development and delivery of coordinated and integrated plans, implementation of policies and work tasks in conjunction with the Districts, regional planning partners, local units of government and the Statewide Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Committee. The position will serve as the assistant to the section manager and act accordingly in the absence of the manager. This includes bicycle and pedestrian technical support, planning, training, outreach, safety, evaluation and education. Primary responsibilities are for development and maintenance of the Bicycle System Plan, Pedestrian System Plan, Non-Motorized Counting Program, the Safe Routes to School Program, Bicycle Design Manual, Statewide Bicycle Map, State Bikeways, Share the Road Program and administration of the Statewide Non-Motorized Transportation Committee.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor?s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Recreation Management, Public Health Administration, or equivalent and three years of advanced professional experience in the following areas:

? Extensive knowledge of MnDOT and its roles, interrelationships between bicycle and pedestrian travel and other modes, and how they relate to statewide, regional or community planning and development;
? Working/demonstrated knowledge of bicycle and pedestrian industry and advocacy, nationally, regionally, and locally;
? Advanced knowledge of planning techniques, the Legislative process, and public information meeting processes;
? A broad understanding of environmental laws, regulations, and policies; and how they relate to transportation infrastructure development;
? In-depth understanding of research, analysis techniques and forecasting techniques so that proper direction is provided to the research and special studies activities of the section;
? Supervisor or Lead work experience which include providing oversight, work direction, training and evaluating staff;
? Policy-making experience recommending, developing and implementing policies, guidelines, rules, standards and procedures;
? Experience with contract administration , RFP process, and budget oversight processes rules and guidelines;
