Planner Recruitment
The City of Taylor, Texas is seeking candidates for the Planner position who have strong experience in the operations of the development review process in a growing municipality and who are passionate about planning as a tool for maintaining and improving the quality of life in a community.  Experience with a medium size or larger community will be a plus. The Planner reports to the Director of Development Services and is assigned to administer zoning, platting, variances, annexation cases, maintain development project records, prepare agenda packets for Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Commission, and other Advisory Board meetings as assigned, perform GIS functions, addressing functions, website maintenance, public incentives administration, conduct policy research and make appropriate recommendations as needed.  For additional information on the position and the community see www.chcpublicsectorsolutions.com .
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in a related field such as planning, political science, public administration or similar discipline. A Master’s degree preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the municipal planning environment, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the municipal regulatory environment; and experience with working with volunteers of diverse backgrounds.  The Successful candidate will have AICP certification, or the ability to obtain AICP within a year of hire date. 
The starting salary is open and will depend upon background and qualifications of the successful candidate. The city benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.  TMRS retirement is 5 years at age 60 or 20 years at any age and the City match is 1.5 to 1. The City provides LTD insurance to all full time employees, as well as sick leave, vacation and holidays.
