Transportation Planner III Transportation Department, Monthly Salary Range: $4,982 - $6,103 Open Competitive
This is an exempt professional position with the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG), Transportation Division. This is a senior level planning position, and responsibilities include assisting in or managing a variety of projects related to the development of regional transportation plans and programs, TIP, management systems, and travel demand forecasting. Duties include, but are not limited to, in a team environment:
• Develop and maintain the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
• Assist in development of new or revised population and employment models to forecast and analyze population and employment trends• Manage short and long-range projects related to the transportation program• Respond to requests for technical assistance from member governments• Perform quantitative analyses and author transportation reports• Facilitate public involvement in various planning processes• Administer contracts for transportation program products• Participate on regional task forces• Interpret and respond to federal and state regulations• Coordinate and work with federal, state, and local transportation agencies• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director Supervisor Transportation Director of the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments
Required Education and Experience
1. Master’s Degree in transportation planning, urban and regional planning, statistics or a related field, plus a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience, or
2. Bachelor’s Degree in transportation planning, urban and regional planning, statistics or a related field, plus a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience.
This position requires a high level of computer literacy in the application of standard spreadsheet and word processing software, along with associated competence in GIS software, the principles and practices of urban transportation planning, technical analysis methods, the most recent federal transportation legislation related to transportation planning requirements. Also Required The ability to analyze complex issues and present results in concise reports and presentations to PPACG staff and others; understanding relationships between pertinent federal and state regulations; ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, elected officials, federal, state and local agency representatives, PPACG committees, and community organizations.
