Our Transportation Economics team is expanding and we are seeking experienced candidates to be based in the Chicago office to support economic analyses. This position is based in any of our office locations. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established and rapidly growing national team of planners, economists, and engineers recognized for innovative work in transportation planning, economics, and policy. This individual will support and lead studies related to regional economics and economic development, transportation policy, financial analysis, and related areas, potentially including asset management and climate change adaptation. This individual will also assist in the preparation of proposals and reports, and conduct research on transportation projects. This individual will perform data collection, spreadsheet analyses, run economic simulation models, conduct statistical analysis, assist in report and proposal writing as well as presentations.
Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Economics and a minimum of 4 years applied project experience and conducting economic analyses (optimally in transportation planning) within a consulting environment. The candidate should have enthusiasm for applied economics and desire to work in a team-oriented environment, as well helping develop the technical capabilities of other staff. Strong analytic, writing, and communication skills are also a must. Experience with statistical analysis packages, regional economic and freight/commodity flow databases, econometric and input/output models is required. Experience with travel demand forecasting models and geographic information systems (GIS) and project management experience are a plus.
