SUMMARY:
Assists in planning, designing and participates in public meetings, public hearings, agency meetings, and coordinating with airport users. The applicant will be responsible for the management, preparation, and QA and QC of planning documents on planning projects by performing the following duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for successfully managing his/her assigned projects to meet the customer's program, expectations and the Firm's Mission and Vision. Assignments require independent judgment and application of a non-routine, complex nature, under the supervision of the Sr. Project Manager. Assignments shall include variables and be complex. Makes decisions independently, and represents the company and the customer to resolve important questions and to plan, coordinate, and manage projects. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work results from progressive experience and education.
- Understand the project scope, goals, and limitations and understand/visualize the customer's goals and expectations
- Take a leadership role and communicate with the customer, the customer's assignees, the planning team, project planning related environmental and land-use consultants, project cost estimators, and all agencies, as necessary, which are involved in order to successfully complete a project
- QA and QC of planning documents may include but are not limited to: master plans, airport layout plans, creation of alternatives and design standards for environmental assessments, site selection studies, transportation studies, aeronautical surveys, instrument approach feasibility studies, benefit to cost analysis studies, safety and security analysis, emergency planning. Keep current with FAA planning and design aspects
- Performs design and calculation tasks based on standard planning techniques and procedures. Applies standard practices, planning fundamentals, and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, and follows design through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- Performs design of more complex projects under direction of Director or Sr. Project Planner, or other responsible staff member.
- Prepares reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and permits for projects, under the direction of Director or Sr. Project Planner or other responsible staff members
- Performs computer aided design drafting to produce planning documents into routine final drawings
- Research and interpret land use ordinances and codes
- Uses company and discipline department computer assisted drafting and design software and equipment to prepare planning and design documents. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers.
- Assist in supervising, coordinating and checking the work, as well as instructing, leading and mentoring Planner Levels, I, II, and III, as well as Designers, and CADD or GIS Technicians.
- Must be proficient in the use of:
- Microsoft Windows, Excel, Project, and Word
- ARC GIS (preferred)
- Deltek Vision (preferred)
- Adobe products
- AutoCAD, Revit
- Miscellaneous department product/system selection and sizing software.
- Have basic knowledge of sustainable/green strategies
- Promotes and represents the firm in a professional manner.
- Should be active in professional trade organizations.
- Responsible for job specific standards, practices and quality as defined in BRPH Systems Manuals.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be able to interact with people at all levels and communicate effectively
- Must have planning experience on large scale, public and pedestrian projects
- Experience with land use planning, transportation planning
- and economic analysis (Preferred)
- Ability to meet airport badging & security requirements
- Familiarity with FAA advisory circulars for planning and design
- Familiarity with local, state and federal laws for airport planning and design
- Knowledge of Environmental and Airspace issues in relation to airport planning
CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed civil engineer or architect with: AIA, PE. Registered AICP (preferred)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Four year Bachelors in Engineering, Master's Degree in Architecture, or Masters in Urban Planning.
- 5-10 years related planning experience related to general aviation & air carrier airports is preferred
- 8 years of experience in master planning
