Michael Watkins Architect, LLC is a small but very busy architecture and town planning firm in Kentlands, outside Washington, D.C.  We are seeking an architect/planner to join us in serving some of the best clients out there!  We support our clients in building community at a variety of scales in the US and abroad.  The services we provide include:  conceptual architectural design, master plans for new and existing communities, codes and pattern books, serving as "Town Architect" and more.  Design charrettes, both public and in-house, are the norm on large projects.
The successful candidate will be an architect and/or planner with 5+/- years of experience who is passionate about creating beautiful, walkable, communities.  Candidates should be highly motivated, able to think creatively and critically, detail-oriented, and able to represent the firm with clients.  Education and/or experience in traditional architecture is expected.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected.  Proficiency with Sketch Up, InDesign, Photoshop, AutoCAD and the other usual programs is expected.  The ability to draw and paint by hand would be most welcome!
